Same here. This song moves me so much to this day. I remember it from my childhood and I loved it then but I have barely heard it since then in my life but then hearing it again it hits me so deeply. George's song is timeless and beautiful.

George had a catalogue of songs never reordered with the Beatles as he played second fiddle the Lennon and McCartney. When the Beatles ended George was free and come out with some really incredible music. All the Beatles were geniuses in there own right and we should be so thankful for the music they played together!

Until he was sued for having a[ this] song sounds like another song ( or a dozen other songs, because it uses a “ common “ chords. ( silly, but they won and he got discouraged). Sad. 📻🙂

redletter2008 This, I did not know. Thanks for the info. Apparently though, an interview, George talked about how he was discouraged. So sad. Though I’d have a difference of opinion religiously ( I’m a Christian), I really enjoy his music, even today. Both he, and Ringo were so overshadowed by Paul, andJohn, that I feel they were really underrated. Big fan of Paul - not so much, John, not sure why. They all had talent, but continued to hone their craft, and art. Music today, like acting, far fewer real talented people, and numbers dropping. 📻🙂

You should listen to my favorite song by George. “Something” is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Also, a more light hearted song with a great video is “I’ve got my mind set on you”. IMO although George had a lot of success, he often doesn’t get the attention he deserves.

There are Hindu religious references in this song. Vishnu is the preserver god, which means he protects the universe from being destroyed and keeps it going, according to this religion, and he has come to earth in nine forms (called avatars) so far, with one yet to come. His most famous forms are Rama and Krishna. So, This is where George was on his path at that time. Was he a follower? Not really sure. Released in November 1970, "My Sweet Lord" made George Harrison the first of the Beatles to have a solo No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was an appeal for a closer relationship with God. Harrison would need it. From UCR- A few months after its release, Harrison was sued for copyright infringement by the publisher of "He's So Fine," a 1963 hit for the Chiffons. On Aug. 31, 1976, Judge Richard Owen of the United States District Court found Harrison had "subconsciously" copied the Chiffons' tune. Years of appeals and litigation over damages continued until March 1998. "I don't feel guilty or bad about it," wrote Harrison. "In fact, it saved many a heroin addict's life. I know the motive behind writing the song in the first place, and its effect far exceeded the legal hassle." Still and all a great song

George was always spiritual and he wrote this song that blended old Indian beliefs, which is why he sings "Hara Khrisha, Hara Rama" and other chants honoring the Gods of one the oldest culture in India. This song always brought tears to my eyes. You should also check out his song 'What is Life". This song sounds like it is about a girl but it is about his relationship with God. Asking the next question after 'My Sweet Lord'. I will subscribe as I also want you to also check out Bohemian Raphsody by Queen! Love spiritual music recorded as rock or pop. Queen has so many incredible songs that should be enjoyed by the next generation, whoever they may be. .

He became intrigued with Eastern cultures. Spent time with Ravi Shankar (Norah Jones' father). He put together the Concert for Bangladesh at Madison Square Garden to raise money and awareness of the poverty experienced by the people there. He was a true humanitarian! - R.I.P. George.

George Harrison: Got My Mind Set On You. Other tunes related to members of the Beatles. You've done at least one Wings song, but there are others: Jet, Silly Love Songs & Live and Let Die. Ringo Starr (Drummer) had some solo hits, but I always liked his cover of Buck Owens Act Naturally, featuring Buck Owens. John Lennon has some beautiful solo work like, Imagine, but one of his sons, Julian Lennon had some great songs in the 80s: Too Late For Goodbyes, Valotte and Say You're Wrong. Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney: Say, Say, Say & The Girl is Mine.

Please react to All Those Years Ago by George Harrison. Its his tribute to John Lennon, written after he was murdered. Many years later George himself was attacked with a knife in his own home, luckily he survived this.

George was a very spiritual man. He studied Hinduism for years. He had an amazing list of great music because he was somewhat shadowed by the Lennon-McCartney team. They were such a great writing team that George's music kind of got overlooked. Which is one of the reasons he left the group. But he walked away with a suitcase full of songs. He was the first former Beatle to put out a solo album--an unprecedented 3 record album. He was a great musician. Anything you pick be him will be enjoyed

George wasn't as much religious as he was spiritual. He respected everyone's version of their own God, as well as his own. Thus the Lyrics in this song. He had such a beautiful soul.

One of his more obscure, but very clever songs was “That’s The Way It Goes”, Another is his tribute to Smokey Robinson called “Pure Smokey”. His song called “This Song” was in response to his being sued for plagiarizing the song He’s So Fine which contains the same three notes as My Sweet Lord.
