2022 Peugeot 5008 Review -Is it that much better than a Geely Okavango?

The 2022 Peugeot 5008 is a premium 7 seater SUV/Crossover. Here in the Philippines, it sells for 2.2 million pesos which puts it in between 7 seater PPVs like the FOrtuner LTD and more affordable crossovers like the Geely okavango. Value for money talaga Okavango, affordable and relatively packed with tech, but it’s a different pride owning a European brand that looks as good as this. Was also thinking na the CX-8 is the closest competitor to this one. Santa Fe and Sorento rin actually. However mas matched up siya with the CX-8 for the more expensive feeling interior (and the lack of 3rd row vents).

What's the km/L of your 1.6L THP gasoline engine when in city with moderate to heavy traffic? My brand new 5008 has poor km/L (worst than my 2.0L NA Skyactiv-g gasoline engine). Not sure if it's just isolated and can be resolved by warranty claim. Do dealerships even have a way to diagnose poor fuel efficiency of brand new cars? What's your km/L of 1.6 THP gasoline engine?

Nice that you've driven both 3008 and 5008. Looking into getting the 3008 coming from a 1st Gen 5008 Question... How's the aircon cooling of both 3008 and 5008?

19oCvery cold 22oCzu hot in die Mitte gibt es nicht Klima coolt ab 19 grad and Lower. Getting warm in winter ist problem..sitz heizung hilft a lot ich empfhele. Es.

@@nikicaze3889 Hier auf den Philippinen ist es sehr heiss. Im Moment ist es 35c. Manchmal kommen europaische Autos mit dem heissen Wetter nicht zurecht.

Haven't seen the new Sorento yet in person. The 5008 definitely feels a lot more premium and more modern than the CR-V

Don't think this is comparable to Okavango since this is a crossover and the Oka is an MPV plus considering that this is a mid tier brand here in the PH - in between mass market brands like toyota, honda and the likes and luxury brands like bmw, merc, lexus.. brand wise this and volvo are at the same tier here in PH. Product wise, this is more comparable to Sorento, Santa Fe, Explorer, CX 8 or 9 which uses more "premium" materials but not the Oka (Okavango - Innova)

I think this is more comparable to Volkswagens in the Philippines. In Europe Peugeot is usually tied up with Volkswagens Citroens Skodas Renaults and Vauxhalls. Volvo sits somewhere slightly above with Alfa Romero DS Mini and Jaguar, and slightly below Merc/BMW/Audi/Porsche Sobrang sumemplang lang talaga yung product planners ng VW Philippines by introducing Chinese nameplates. Pero if they bring back the Tiguan the Golf and the Touareg, sobrang ganda sana ng sales nila now. Volkswagen and Peugeot kasi caters to this substantial segment kasi of the market that wants non-luxury European brands where the slightly extra price tag ensures a bit of exclusivity and European car flex.

@@CrossCuntyRic hahaha totally forgot about VW. Yes this is true, Golf jetta passat era of VW ph sila ang magka tapat. Then yung nga, nag switch to chinese lineup despite sales success nung first batch nila (they were starting to gain traction esp with the golf wagon and jetta) and you can really see how the quality dipped kahit sa switches pa lang sa interior (jetta > lavida). So yeah, now mas upmarket ang peugeot dito compared to vw.

But i guess hindi pa nag warm-up sa Filipinos enough yung simplistic but quality builds ng global models, kaya even with the arrival of the global models parang ang hirap maappreciate how “dull” they look

This isnt an MPV though. And MPVs like Okavangos are still being compared to the Innova, generally. You won't see this get compared to an Innova.

Third row passenger wont get a good share of the airconditioning. With this kind of climate in the Philippines its a hell hot at the back. You forgot to include it in your review. Ur more focused on the good things.
