He didn’t give her credit when he won the Harper Avery and he never mentioned her after he left her . Owen respected Cristina and he understood that nothing would ever be able to replace her love for surgery . That’s the diffrence . The not wanting a baby thing aside, Owen and Cristina worked . She told Mer to take care of him after she left , she cared about him .

For me, it’s not about sides or who was right/wrong. Burke and Cristina were great together but they didn’t need to be together. They both wanted different lives that would’ve ultimately destroyed their relationship to the point that maybe even this reunion wouldn’t have been possible. Burke ended up being a trailblazing surgeon with a family and knew that Cristina was destined to be in his place. He loved her but knew that his love wasn’t enough so he did the next best thing...gave her his company to run. Though he knew he’d always be in love with Cristina, he gave her what she wanted and he found a very happy medium for the both of them. Ultimately they both got what they wanted: Cristina became the head of a thriving, cardiothoracic research facility and Preston got to retire after a great career and have a family. Great ending for both characters and their relationship.
