I absolutely love the way that the entire spectrum is filled by just the piano and vocals in this theatre. The lows, mids, and highs are all in balance on the first several bars of the chorus. The resonance is fantastic as a backdrop.

Marko (vocals & lyrics ) Markus (composer, producer, pianist) & Olli (composer & lead guitar) have been together 20 years next year, I’m sure they’re pretty much telepathic by now 😁 In videos of some of their live gigs their admiration of one another is a joy to behold.

Markus, their composer / producer /keyboard player used to be in the Amiga computer demo scene, making MOD music (mod = music file format that incorporates sound samples and notation, written with a tracker program, where you download samples and write the notation in text and sample numbers and sample number and FX as hex decimal numbers), using the name Captain.
@JariJuslin Жыл бұрын
Demo scene was a big thing in Finland and quite a lot of our now famous game programmers started there, but apparently also some musicians. And Poets of the Fall was brought to international attention when they made song Last Goodbye for game Max Payne and Remedy (the game house) and the band have been working together since that. In Control they made the songs with heavier sound and using different band name but it's still the same guys.

This is one of those cases where you didn't need any reverb effects, just mic the whole room 😀. The theater itself, vacated by the pandemic, had all the acoustics you needed.

YES! I love watching people discover PotF, they are so good! So talented! Please watch more, I'd be very interested to follow along. All of the Alexander Theater sessions are great, or the eGenelec Studio session too, with the whole band Cheers!
@kurtpahlow64762 жыл бұрын
I love all the Alexander theater session songs too! I also second the Genelec studio series, especially Carnival of Rust and Once Upon a Playground Rainy...full band, w/electric instruments, yet the band itself is causal and laid back. Their official music videos are artistically good too, but I find the visuals take away from the vocals and music.

I'd like to point out that Captain is Markus Captain Kaarlonen of Amiga Music Space Debris fame. So cool to see his composing skills on Poets songs.

This is a recording they made in a small set with very few people (not even whole of band) during covid - reduced to piano and Marko, mostly as a tribute as it was free for all in their and my country, Finland.

One of the best bands ever came out from our country and Marko just have a really good voice. It is strong but he has the soul in the more quiet parts too.. That is called an expression:)

Poets of the Fall is probably my favourite band ever; there's not a single song of theirs I've heard that I didn't like. On their music videos, there is a full band and it's much more of a spectacle. But for these Alexander Theatre Sessions covers of their old material, it's all stripped back like this. Turns a lot of their rock-y bangers much more haunting.

The band usually plays alternative rock but their acoustic performances are beautiful.

"Cold as Ice" by Foreigner, by the way (because I'm old). I guess a case can be made for the chord progressions being similar, though I probably wouldn't have thought of it.

👋🏼This was fantastic😍 first time listen to this channel. I liked it a lot. If you like jazz, I can recommand Angelina Jordan. She got jazz in with the mothermilk. She is now 16 years old and from Norway. She won Norway got talent at 7->8 years old. She sing “ I put a spell on you” with a jazzband at 8 years old. 😳fantastic. The latest cover is suspicius mind a cover by Elvis Presley, so delicate done and I have nothing by Withney Houston. She even cover Michael Jackson Billy Jean with a jazzy twist. She has signed public records and is working with a new album. She is up there with the best. 🤞🏼
