Really nice response video. I've heard those two Exchange Session with Kieran and Steve Reid; both are wonderful electronic jazz. There is an amazing vibe on both volumes. That Black Unity Trio is a gem. Goes places I just didn't imagine. As for that Ghost Opera Company...one is now on its way to my house. Thanks, Alex. Wonderful video. Cheers!

Shawn, listen to ''Wenu Wenu'' by Omar Souleyman, it's produced by Kieran Hebden. Omar is a famous Syrian ''wedding singer''. Stunty told me that he was not impressed by the music but I think it's ''Big Fun''!

I’m digging that 62 Dolphy. I recall hearing about Pygmy Unit back in the 70s. Just the name but never heard them ✌🏻

Alex, fantastic stuff. The highlight for me was the Dolphy background music. I always felt that Dolphy was heading in the direction of composing modern classical music, flute concertos, string quartets and even orchestral pieces. Mingus was also going in that direction. The piece '' Gazzelloni'' was named after his flute teacher, Severino Gazzelloni. Severino had composers like Berio, Maderna and Stravinsky, write and dedicate pieces to him. Gina Lalli had a very interesting life, check out her story!

Darrel De Vore of the Pygmy Unit was also in the Charlatans & no doubt had a hand in the brief moments of free jazz on display on their sole album.

yes some of the players in the group seem to have been fairly active with bay area bands though mostly not known to me
