I come back here to remind myself how wrong the internet and what is popular is. This should be on everyone’s playlist, taught in schools, and the anthem of a great nation.

Nothing will beat the original trio. I hope they do an album again someday.

My favourite bass playing of any modern trio. It's just the most incredible pattern. Dave's drumming is incredible too. They all are. I miss the classic line up

Very fun to contrast pianist Orrin's solo here with the album version - trying to get inside his head a little bit and see where those ideas come from! {The song was written bey bassist Reid, but the crazy solo on the album, that's gotta be all Orinn ; ) } It was such a pleasure to see y'all in Seattle, 2017.

Ethan Iverson plays piano here, and on the album the tune is on, Prog. Orrin Evans only joined in 2018 after Ethan left the group. Either way fabulous piece

@@asherplatts6253 He wrote the piece right ? Nice groove. Piano not so much cause he isn't tight, but I love the bass part and groove

@@Yadeehoo LOL @ saying Ethan Iverson doesn't have good rhythm LOL LOL LOL, what? I've transcribed the piano and bass to this song, and the piano is doing amazing things rhythmically. The piece is in 9/4, the piano is playing all kinds of groupings on top of that, the feel is incredible. Ethan Iverson is an incredibly talented pianist.

@@asherplatts6253 Yes, we disagree, he tries nice things but goes out of the tempo too often, if you count you can hear it, it just sounds sloppy to me. Not saying all he does is wrong, but rhythmically, he's too off, too approximative. I play piano but I'm formerly a drummer and I can tell these things.

@@Yadeehoo You seem to think it's a mistake though. He's doing it deliberately, it's an expressive style, made all the more effective by being set against the steadiness of the drums and bass. I think you're demonstrating a narrow prescriptive philosophy
