Sadly, Gil's messages remain as relevant as ever, whether he's singing about addiction, war, or social injustice. A legend and an inspiration. Now with the spirits.

i love this man. i saw him many times, when I was in my 20's. i never attended concerts, but i made an exception for GILL. He was a true genius. It makes me sick to think that he spent his last year's on the street. Rip Gill Scott Heron.

+Edward Mack I too never cared for concerts but where ever Gil was appearing I tried to be there...somehow the attitude of the crowd was different....Gils music had that effect on folks. When you heard him heads not only bopped but minds and hearts were in tune with the person next to you.Gil's death was a hard piece to hear. The voice of the revolution will be missed....but the message he left will live on forever...ya feel me?

Remember being turned on to Gil walking down the street with my best friend, we were in Jr High and an older Brother busted out his house and said very earnestly to come inside and here this music, I listened and it changed my life. Gil Scott is more relevant now than ever before 🎼🎙🎹🎸🎷🥁🔊🎶💔 RIPOWER!

I'm blessed not only that of a young age i found out about Gil and admired hes music and he's voice very much. Somewhere at the end of the 80's I saw Gil Scott Heron performing live. One of those Concerts i will never forget. He stated the show with a song i cant remember, but it started with he's voice and electric piano only. What a warm feeling. I was blown away. 💜

I don't know what's more hearbreaking -- to be reminded, once agian, that Gil Scott-Heron is no longer with us (and to see how he was obviously in such tragic shape by this point), or to see all those jopyful people together, maskless and fearless, gathered in fellowship and celebration -- a world, a way of life, that I fear we may never see again.

1 Peter 5:5-9 [5]Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. [6]Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: [7]Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. [8]Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: [9]Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

what a terrible audiance. Woodstock had alot of great artists, but Gil was different and one of the most under appreciated poets of the 20th and 21st centrury. Im 20 years old, about the the demographic of woodstock. Gils lyrics have resonated with me better then any other poet or artist. Im ranting, i want to keep his spirit alive.
