Some players attain a really high level of skill, but Brecker ... wow ... he just kept getting better, and better, and better, and better ... ... Such an inspirational example to us all.

Highly recommended, Bill Milkowski's biography, to learn more about the man himself.

I was at this gig, and found out the Cal State Long Beach jazz station was going to broadcast the Festival a few weeks later. A friend of mine and I drove down to the Cal State campus to record it off the radio.....I'm almost positive that they also played a Bb blues sometime in the set, and it was broadcast as well, in addition to the "Changes" here and "Happy Times" found elsewhere, but regrettably I cannot locate my recording of it. I'm going through stuff now, though, and if I find it, I'll post here.....

Thanks for posting, this a tune from the great 1995 McCoy Tyner Trio w/ Michael Becker album 'Infinity'. One of the very first Jazz records I ever bought and my introduction to McCoy's incredible style and that unique approach of Quartal Harmony based voicings and right hand pentatonic superimpositions, a total unique sound, as well as my introduction to Michael Brecker's playing, his sound, time feel and arguably unparalleled ability at on the spot solo construction - I became a life long fan of both. 'Changes' is a great track, the whole album is awesome, all tracks are great.

This is so lovely, Bret. McCoy's playing here reminds me of an album that he recorded with Phyllis Hyman during, I think, the 1990s. .. And Mike Brecker .. WOW!! .. we all realise you're a keen aficionado, as you've made repeatedly clear, and this track makes it obvious why We're all grateful that some guy made this recording available during the 1990s, and that you in turn have passed on this adrenaline-loaded torch!! 👍😎 (This icon's for Mexico ): 🌞🌞🌞

Yes the Coltrane succession is valid! Mike B is or was the man! I never got to see him tho I knew of him from the beginning as we are the same age and I was a player as well and avid music guy. Anyway did get to see and witness McCoy a few times! You lookin healthy Bret love the background there in Mexico! So colorful!
