Good review, except for two important items. I just got my 2023 F350 Lariat Ultimate Tremor past the 1,000 mile break-in period. It took me all day today to figure out what advance technology to turn off, but after turning off Pre-collision assist, and holding the traction control button more than 5 sec turns off the traction and stability control systems, and putting in 4H, I got to 60 in 5.53 sec . In 2H time was 7.5 sec. That’s crazy amazing. Second, the trail mode which allows me to climb 4 x 4 trails in cruise control, like as slow as 1 MPH, and the system automatically idle’s up to overcome obstacles and it applies brakes to control inertia it took to overcome obstacle to slow momentum. Trail mode works in 2H too. Softer seats, smoother ride due to tremor shocks, quieter ride….oops I started adding more than my two original points. Well, the clear winner is Ford, all the way.

I own a 22 f250 tremor with most options including 'clearance lights' that were avail at time of ordering and happy with it. Never looked at the ZR2 or ever driven one, but in my opinion, the front end does look better

Love the look of the Chevy/Gmc. The increased payload, incresed power and torque, solid front axle, and limited slip front end have me keeping my 24 f350 Tremor order.

unless you're getting the diesel version of that Ford, it won't be more power or torque and the Chevy has a limited slip front end and brake control locking system to fake a locker, towing should be within like pounds of each other as rated and payload too

I thought long and hard about getting the Tremor package on my 2023 F350 7.3. Ultimately I decided FX4 was enough. I’ve got my bronco for trail rides and a RZR to rip desert/dunes. I just needed a truck that could haul my toys without getting stuck.

Personally I had a Chevy 3500 with the 454 had a lot of engine issues. GM wanted to settle with me to pay half of the repairs I ended up selling it to a mechanic that could fix it. Also I would never own a truck without 2 solid axles. I wouldn't deal with a split drive in the front. The Ford is aluminum. I own a Ford 250 Platty 2020 and I wouldn't trade it for anything built after the pandemic. They are full of issues using substandard parts in my opinion. Good video! "Who work?" FORD!

As I finally got my '23 F-250 Tremor with the 7.3L, I am definitely biased, but seeing the ZR2, hate the front end and squared fender wheel well. I have plenty of friends that dig the Chevy/GMC look, but not for me.

Great review @JB! It’s to bad zr2 is only 2500. I wish they would have done a 3500 version. For that reason alone the f350 tremor has a huge advantage. Many f350 tremors have a 4000lb payload. That ZR2 being that it’s a 2500 will fall into the 2700- 3000 range depending on if AEV or not.

I think the Chevy looks tough and its probably a great truck. I drive a '23 f-350 tremor and it's my daily driver, off road, towing, hunting vehicle. I prefer a solid front axle for my use. Plus having the tremor package available on different trims makes it much more versatile.

ZR2 hands down. The new ford grill looks alot like the new silverado with the headlight curves with the black trim. The GMs have 3 modes if you are including the tow haul mode

JB great review. To be fair I have a 20 F250 Lariat w sport appearance with Tremor exterior parts (wheel moldings, running boards, front valance) and a Carli 3" level on 37's with a 7.3. I was a GMC guy until 2001, and still are my favorite trucks. When it comes to work pulling trailers and over all comfort of the seats and interior, I will give it to Ford. Ride has always gone to the GM with the exception of my Carli set up which rides as well as my 2003 GMC 1500 and 2009 F150. For 2024 on looks alone...hands down that ZR-2 but I even like the GMC version better but not for an additional 10k. There's pros and cons to both. I prefer the drop-down running boards but the Tremors deflect all the rocks and when it comes to sunroofs again Ford with their panoramic is much nicer at 1500.00. You also get the front locker, a few 4x4 extra stuff and there is no denying the 3k more for Fords 500/1200 vs GM's 475/975 is well worth it. I don't believe I will get a diesel again and love the 7.3 cause it does everything my diesel did (pull bob cats 16k) and if GM could compete with their 6.6 gas I would venture back. Until then I will stick with the less attractive Ford that is better suited for my situation.

Problem is, 95% of higher end HD trucks on dealer lots are diesel. I think the dealers see more profit margins with the diesels.

I agree. I am just over the additional 1.00+ fuel costs per gallon, def fluid, additional oil change costs and all the additional filters required. The only thing I really miss is the exhaust brake. Other than that, I tow the same stuff, bobcats, 34 Freeman for a client and she gets the job done...just at a slower pace. I guess if I towed heavy daily Id go back to diesel but as of now we have 2 7.3's...one with over 135k miles as a delivery truck and my personal F250 with 62k miles. Been flawless other than batteries every 2 years. @@fishmojo865

The Chevy looks better, but I think the Tremor is overall a better all around truck. But I wouldn't trust The Ford cp4 fuel pump. I would replace it with the S&S fuel pump.

Good video. I prefer the Ford I've never liked the new style of the Chevy or GMC. The one thing I like about what Ford's doing with the Tremor is you can get an XLT for around $62,000. I think that's one of the mistakes Ram and Chevy is doing by making it a trim level instead of making it an a option on a trim level. 🙂

The Tremor has a great package: comfortable seats (especially if you get Platinum), front limited slip, available winch, high output diesel with top power in class, Tremor can be had in F350, higher towing/payload Platinum Tremor comes with projector led/led taillights. Chevy does look better than their previous version. Chevy is still prone to broken tie rods/cv axles/hub bearings. I prefer the Ford. Good video!!

I had a first Gen Colorado ZR2 loved it but needed something to tow with so went with a 2022 lariat tremor 250 loved both trucks but the 2500 ZR2 looks great may be my next truck

You can build a case for both trucks. Chevy should be more pleasant to live with as a daily. It's also likely to have the edge at moderate speed desert/trails and overall ride quality/ handling. Ford should be slightly better at towing due to higher numbers and 3500 availability. Ford should also have the edge in rock crawling. That said if your a hard core off-road guy it goes without saying that HD trucks are not where it's at. Looks are subjective, but to me (stock vs stock) the Ford looks like an old mans truck when sitting next to the ZR2. Both are very nice trucks so just pick the flavor that suits you best. For me the sweet spot is the GMC AT4X.

What’s the ground clearance hit on the ZR2 with the folding steps”folded” vs the OEM high clearance steps like you have on your 3500 dually ?? Those folding steps when folded still hang down quite a ways. I’d save the money and go for the fixed high clearance step $1200?

love my fords over 20 years. never had any issues. not a brand loyalist by any means but i mean my experience keeps me leaning to ford....however...the chevys look so sexy in comparison. Edit: Also want to add; Bose compared to B&O is hands down Bose winning all day every day. B&O just sounds like its an open sound stage which i guess some may like but the basses and deep tones just cant be defined enough. they almost get washed out.

Ford every time. If you use the truck to work, the GM independent front is laughable. They do not last as farm trucks. Nothing beats a solid front axle for off road beatings day in day out. GM cosmetically, is just plain butt ugly.

I got the Zr2 with a duramax and have found that GM trucks are garbage. Hands down the most uncomfortable vehicle I've ever owned, 14mpg, and the Duramax is a joke compared to powerstroke or cummins. I also thought chevy was supposed to ride better but it is not any better than every other HD truck I've owned.
