We pit the Ford F-250 Limited against the Chevy Silverado 2500 High Country to find out which truck handles the best. We tow 10K lbs and take a look underneath both trucks to help us decide which is better.
The updated Ford Super Duty packs 1200 lb-ft of torque, while Chevy's Duramax diesel makes 975 lb-ft.
Watch the video and let us know which truck you would buy, the Chevy or the Ford, in the comments below.

Being a contractor ford no doubt, nothing wrong with the Chevy, it’s more than capable, anyone who can afford them should be happy, I personally drive a 2021 550 ford for work which is truly amazing …easier to judge than a car, turns like a car and being detuned as a cab and chassis with 4.88 is a still a beast at 12k empty

Idk I use to drive a f450 cab and chassis with a newer power stroke that was de tuned had a service bed with a crane on the back and it was ungodly slow topped out at 82 and got 9 mpg while leaking oil like crazy from the upper pan truck was a turd that’s why I didn’t buy a super duty for my personal truck.

Thanks for the great review. The major issue you point out is pricing of $9k more for the Ford but in that case you would have to compare the King Ranch which is the same trim level as GM's High Country. Ironically the King Ranch is $9k less than the Limited. I absolutely love my 2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Platinum Powerstroke.

Great video! Just traded in our 2017 F-250 King Ranch for a 2024 Chevrolet 2500 LTZ a couple of weeks ago here in Houston. The quality of our Ford was terrible. We had multiple problems with it. Major problems! For us, Ford’s quality issues on a $90k truck kept us from buying another one. The new interiors on Chevys are vastly improved from when we bought the 2017 Ford. This year Chevy is competitive. We tow a 10k pound trailer and I can’t wait to see how this truck performs. We definitely noticed the significant price difference on MSRP but we also received a $4,000 cash back from Chevy on the new truck whereas Ford was charging a mark up on the new Super Duty. The choice was very clear for us. A comparable Chevy was at least $13k less than the Ford and the Ford quality issues sealed the deal.

Great video gents! What's the one year depreciation on these trucks, $25k? $30k? What is the redesign rate on this segment, 4 years? Does that cause another significant drop in the residual value? I'm sorry, but at these prices, the only thing my brain will consider is the financial aspect of ownership, and the potential driving experience goes in one ear and out the other. Congratulations to anyone who can make these things a worthwhile purchase, but i can think of a lot of things i would rather do with $150k (MSRP+ tx+ delivery). On the other hand, Steve and Howard are great. Thanks for an informative and entertaining video.

Nice video. A couple observations I’d like to make is 1) if you ran the Chevy in auto 4wd for the entire test that would explain the fuel milage difference. 2) if the Ford had the short bed like the Chevy it would have a smaller tank. 34 gallons I believe. I do agree Chevy should offer a bigger option for the 8’ bed trucks.

Bought the ford, a 2023 F250 Tremor with the HO 6.7. Honestly, the pro power onboard to me is worth the price difference. When I worked out of a sprinter van, I would carry a 6000wh Goal Zero battery to keep my gear (commercial media) powered up and all the batteries charged. Now with the Ford I can trop everything up en-route and even use it as a generator on site if need be. Yes, the price is a bit of a punch in the balls (mine was $100K US), but the truck is SO good.

Nice. It may be a small thing but 20" wheels on any HD are going to negatively affect ride quality, especially off-pavement. Anyway I'm planning on buying a F250 SuperCab with the standard bed but can't decide on the engine. Can you feel the extra power with the HO? Since mine will get some (not a lot) off-road use and I won't be towing heavy I'm considering the 7.3 gas because it's lighter. My hunting truck is a Mojave.
@loudandclearmedia
@loudandclearmedia 5 ай бұрын
@@dantimber thanks! My wheels are I think 18’s. The tremor package includes big knobby 35s, so the rim is a little smaller than the other higher trims. I wouldn’t know if the HO feels more powerful than the other engines, but I imagine it would be apparent. I mean, 1200 ft lbs, for such a large vehicle it’s frighteningly quick. Really impressive. I would encourage you, even if you aren’t hauling regularly to stay away from the gas engine. Don’t get me wrong, we have an RV with that engine in it and it’s great, but I’m talking specifically about resale here. Fact is, a gas powered HD pickup’s resale value will drop like a rock compared to either diesel. Just something to consider.

However efficiency would be the best thing to work on for all brands. If you had to tow from Texas to Florida a 40ft travel trailer you're gonna be pulling at 5-6 maybe 7-8 mpg. If they could increase that to 10-12 that would be such an amazing improvement. Most trucks nowadays don't need any more power we need efficiency. If I could have 1 less fill-up on my drive that would be great.

Great comparison guys! to answer the question at the end, I would tentatively rather the Chevy based on looks and needs (less powerful engine is fine for what I do) and I really dislike that front Ford air dam. Finally, the decision would be based on a test drive because quite honestly when I bought my last pickup in 2020 we dropped the GMC vs the Ford because the GMC/Chevy seats were like sitting on a cement park bench and completely uncomfortable. Hope that has changed! Keep up the great review guys! Big fan!

The Ford has that awesome panoramic glass roof and the Chevy still has the same old small sunroof they’ve had for years. A better test comparison would’ve been a Lariat Ultimate HO with the standard bed. Better comfort in the seats, more power and more useful towing tech along with the more powerful inverter setup in the Ford…It was a no brainer for me Ford SD all day.

Ford and Ram seem to have more comfortable seats over Chevy/GMC according to most reviews I've seen. Obviously, seat comfort is important but not a deciding factor when there's so many things to take into consideration. Just wondering why Chevy/GMC don't seem to get the seat comfort right, many reviews say they're too firm.

Should have checked DEF consumption as well. I've read from several different Outlets that the new high output Powerstroke sucks down DEF at an alarming rate. When you break it down at cost per mile along with the fuel mileage it makes the Ford more expensive to operate in the long-term.

To be honest. I like both but prefer the Ford. But I went with the GMC. They are both capable, but thee (scale, on board power, better camera views and the information given in the cluster) beats GM. The GM trucks though with (auto 4x4, camera mirror, longer history with the Dmax and tail the tailgate). Again it a personal choice and if u want massaging seats (better than my GMC), and what you will do with them.

First things first, I hope you didn't scratch or dent the tailgate on the Chevy. B&W makes a hitch now exclusively for the GM Multi Pro Tailgate. Your not really comparing apples to apples. That F250 is a long wheel base, I'm very surprised the payload capacity wasn't higher with the 8ft bed on the Ford. Personally a F250 LWB is very oddball. Your mostly likely going to get a F350 LWB long before you get a F250 LWB. Just my honest opinion but a F250 LWB is very rare here in Texas. Also, if the Ford was a SWB the fuel capacity would be the same. I'm a Ford guy driving a GMC because I don't know why. Love your guys videos and hope you keep them coming. Cheers!

You and your father are really good at reviewing trucks. Thank you. I know you have to be careful how you answer questions about vehicles and I know that you can alienate a manufacturer or dealer easily making your job much more difficult and costly. So far you guys have done a nice job straddling that bob wire fence. Any experience or statistics you have seen that is reputable on which HD truck will holds its resale value the best? That means more to buyers like me who trade in every 3-5 years. Reliability is also important as it helps make my living but I never drive more than 25,000 miles a year, and most are 12,000 because my wife and I usually drive her SUV on longer trips. From the front, the Chevy is absolutely awesome looking. From the rear, the Chevy has the best tailgate by far. Even Fords new multi-function tailgate is lackluster in comparison. Now, I actually prefer the ford interior for a few reasons, (1) the adjustable pedals and telescoping steering wheel. (2) the seats are more comfortable and I love the multi-contour full lay flat seats. I have a sleeping disorder and many days, I have to pull over suddenly and sleep for 10-15 minutes. (3) I really like the panoramic roof. That blue on the ford is impressive matched with the limited interior. However I’ve seen this light grey/blue diamond pattern age very quickly. The ventilation holes catch a lot of stuff. In 1979 my Dad bought a brand new ford F-350 at the Ford dealership in Roswell New Mexico. Actually my grandfather bought the truck as a gift to my dad. Anyway dad set down with what that dealership called fleet manager. He ordered all “special order” and all vehicles for the dealerships in stock vehicles. Dad picked out a light light powder blue with white running fore and aft in the middle of the truck. It had a medium and dark blue interior. It was a Crew Cab, long bed, 400 ci engine, 4:10 gears matted to a 4 speed manual transmission. It was the most loaded version available in 1979, and XLT “Lariat” with a rope symbol. The cost with tax, title and destination was $7990.99!!!! At that time dad made about $30,000 a year and mom about $11,000 teaching. Today that truck would be $86,000 or a factor of almost 11x. If our incomes kept up with the inflation on pickups.. I’d be making $330,000 $400,000 a year to have similar buying power. It’s a shame the US and Canada have become socialistic welfare states. They’ve destroyed their currency forcing husbands and wives to work full time just to survive.

Very nice review. There are three things from your review that makes me prefer the Ford: fuel economy, the scale, the auto pilot feature on the hitching up. I’m really curious if you had invested a bit more energy on those two later features if your opinion might have changed a little. Now the wife will have the final say and I think she will agree with you, the less expensive is better option.
