Sometimes the weather just doesn't play ball but there is a great saying for that "a bad day out with the camera is always better than a good day in the office"
@jbairdexp7 жыл бұрын
Richard, never a truer word said. Even when it was chucking it down at the top of Cat Bells, I never thought for a moment that I'd rather be in the office! :-)

Lovely to see Catbells Ridge again, I climbed it for the first time in the early 1990's. The Lake District is a beautiful place and over the years it has been photographed to death. However, there has been a recent revival of the area and that's great to see. Continued success Julian ...

Thanks Allan. The Lakes has definately become very popular, especially with photographers, but for good reason. :-)

Hi Julian, great videos of your lakes adventure, cannot wait for part 3. Love the advert for Tunnocks Caramel biscuits, my favourite biscuits and always accompany me on a trip. Look forward to more biscuits (sorry video's) from you :)

Cheers Martin, I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I'm sure the sponsorship deal from Tunnocks is just around the corner! lol Part 3 will be up same time next week. :-)

Challenging conditions to say the least Julian. I've never had Cat Bells to myself but it looked like your early start paid dividends. Enjoyed the team up with Chris. I've got a great location for you both - get yourselves across the the Brecon Beacons. Not sure where Chris is based but it's just across the Severn bridge from you, so come to Wales and get a taster of the great landscape photography to be had here. Looking forward to part three - hope you had better light !! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Tim. Yes, meeting up Chris really brightened up a rather grey day. He lives not far from the Lake District, so the BBs isn't too far in the big scheme of things. Wales in general is very much on my radar for next year. :-)

Julian. I am down in London on business for a couple of days and after a busy day, I got back to the hotel and watched Part1 and Part2 , just brilliant. Very inspiring and thank you for all the hard work it takes to produce these vlogs. Look forward to Part 3

A nice "real world" video Julian...illustrates the truth behind lot of trips up the hills..dark, gloomy, coffee and Tunnocks bars ! (they kept me going on Mull last year in November waiting for Otters !!)

Thanks Nigel. :-) Never under estimate the power of a Tunnocks bar! lol

Great follow-up to part 1 Julian. It's always better photographing with fellow Photographers, least both of you had to suffer the same weather conditions. On that point it looks as if you have the same luck as me whenever I decide to venture out and take landscape images! Great work and thanks for sharing.
@jbairdexp7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert, glad you also enjoyed part 2. Part 3 will be up the same time next week. I had a great time with Chris and having some good company is always a bonus. I have a lot of bad luck with the weather but it makes the good moments seem even better when they do come!

You did manage to get some great shots Julian in spite of the weather and it’s as you said: just getting out there with the fantastic views was good enough and you had a laugh with Chris so all wasn’t lost eh? Nice one buddy

Cheers Tony. I certainley did have a laugh with Chris. That, and just been outdoors made the whole trip worth it. :-)

Brilliant, very nice video! As a Brit living in Germany I'm hopeful that one day I can visit the lake District for some photography. As for challenges, how about restricting yourself to a single lens i.e the 50 mm or even a 35 mm or maybe 10 photos in 15 minutes or something along those lines.. Just a couple of ideas that I've seen other tog's do here on KZbin :)
@jbairdexp7 жыл бұрын
Hey Ginger, thanks for watching another one of my videos. Thanks for the ideas... I'll add them to the list. :-)

What a great day that was! Already looking forward to seeing what we get up to next. Have you seen that Casey and Peter McKinnon have already started to copy our double act thing? Sorry for swearing on your channel - it's neither big nor clever.

Would you do me a favour please? Next time you photograph something with your 16-35, also photograph a key part with your 70-200. Crop into the wide shot and compare the compression you see.

I'll try and remember but it's rare that I have both lenses out. :-)
