I can't find "Targetname" for the door. It doesn't seem to be anywhere. I tried manually adding it but it doesnt work. When I go ingame and buy the door, the clip disappears so i can go through the doors but the doors don't move. And one more thing. I added a custom zombie spawn but the zombies don't move. Is it because I messed up the window?

I covered how to do zombie spawns in my latest video with zones and spawners. As for the door, this tutorial is 100% accurate - so if its not working, then you didn't follow it correctly.

@JBird632 When my door turns, it rotates from the middle rather than on the hinge. I could still walk through it fine, but it's in the middle of the way as opposed to opening like a regular door. Pls help

Make sure you have them as script_brush models, that they have the same targetname as the door pieces (not the trigger), that you have dynamic paths selected and that you have script_noteworthy clip. If you did all that correctly it will work (check your spelling).

Many people have been having problems turning the door into a model. It becomes a red block. When the door becomes a red block, have the block selected and click N. Change the model type from whatever it is, to p7_door_metal_industrial_02_right_white, or p7_door_metal_industrial_02_left_white depending on what type of door/prop you're trying to make it become a model.

Okay so, the first two debris I created on the first map I was doing for testing worked fine, now, every fucking debris that I make shows me ''not available'' when I want to open them in-game, I did everything as shown on the video, the noclip being a brushmodel, the objects being models and connected to the struct, the trigger has the zombie cost script, its targetname and target, etc... as I have always done them, but now all of a sudden no one works, and the script_angle for the rotating door also does not work, IE: script_angle 0 100 0

So, the power door script WAS working. I added dogs and didn't touch the power door script. Now it isn't working. It says, "Not Available" after I turn the power on.

Is there a way to convert a model such as a rock, stone cliff, cave walls, or a tree (models with detailed and uneven surfaces) to a solid material so that a clip isn't needed? I am finding it quite difficult applying clips to some models due to their uneven and irregular surfaces.

Because the garage door was a brush, not a model. So in order for the script to be able to get an entity it must be the script version of its type (misc_model must be script_model, and brush must be script_brushmodel)

Hey a really good idea for the UGX website or any website idea in general would be to make a page wit hall the different KPV's I would really like to know all the limits and options I have and what all I can do without having to keep going back to videos to remember them all. Also the terget_name doesnt have to be called test_door right? your just doing it for that door correct?

Anything that I named with test_ can be changed to whatever you want. So long as the targetname of one, matches the target of the other.

Unfortunately you can't choose the direction of rotation, it just rotates to those angles :/

I believe you can create one as a KVP, just make the property/key "targetname" and make the value whatever you want. At least that's how I think it worked in WaW radiant.

I believe some of those are models, but the rest are actually just brushes. Maybe have a look into the models with "zm" or "zom" in the search bar.

Hey. not sure what I did but I really badly need your or anyone who knows the mod tools to help me out please. When I launch the mod tools, it doesn't show the map in the list of zm_giant and mp_combine in the launcher. But when I open radiant my entire map is in there if I load it and then choose my saved file in radiant. Do you know how to fix this as in putting my files into another folder or did I screw it up??? :/ If you or anyone else could help me out, it would be so much appreciated.

Make sure your riser location has the KVP: "script_noteworthy" "find_flesh" EXACTLY. You can change the speed of the rotation by using something like this KVP: "speed" "2" (I'm using 2 as an example, you can just change this to what you like).

Can you do multiple things like script_string = move + angle and then do angle and vector because rotating doors doesn't work very well because the doors then come off the hinges and look stupid?

No you can’t do both unless you make your own custom script. But the issue you are having is that the door is rotating on its origin. I have a video on how to fix that. Just search for “door fix”

I have a question: Using triggers, can you make a buyable ending? I am making a map with one and was wondering how you do that. Now that you told me how to make things like doors buyable, I was wondering if there was a target name for ending the game?

No there is no set targetname for a buyable ending. You have have to set a targetname for the trigger and make your own custom script to check for it and tell the game to end when they had enough points.

Sounds like the model you are using has its origin in the middle. The only way to fix this is to export the model, adjust the origin in maya and reimport it. Other than that you could use a different model.

SkyCaptainGaming What I usually do is select a brush or model in the 3D view and then adjust it in 2D view. If you try to select in 2D view it can be a bit tricky.

If you can't go through the door then the clip isn't deleting when you buy it. So I would double check the kvp's on your clip brush to make sure it is setup correctly.

It could be a number of things, but realistically if you followed the tutorial perfectly it should work fine. I suggest you look over the kvp's for your door and make sure they match what I did.

So I figured out what causes this, I believe it is because on some door models that were not built to be opened (such as the ones you and I most likely used in our maps) the axis is in the center of the door rather than the hinge. If the x, y, z, axis could be moved to the hinge this would solve this problem, however I do not know how to do this.. :/

You could prefab the doors if you want to have them done really quickly for other maps. Though I find a lot of times that the doors you use are tailored to the map, so I might have wooden doors for a barn for instance.

True thank you. ya I'm just starting to try to get into map making and so everything is a bit overwhelming rn so for a few test maps and stuff I would just want to do the prefab and then edit kvps as necessary until I kinda get used to mapping a bit more then I'll go in and start focusing more on the art of the map and play style and such when I've gone through a few starter maps first.

Games typically do whats called baked lighting, where they bake the shadows into textures; however, once you make something a script model the game assumes this model will be dynamic - thus static lighting wont affect it. In game it might look a little better, but its never going to be perfect unless cod was doing shadow based raytracing like in the new modern warfare.

For stairs, just make a model, then use a carpet clip to make a ramp. Use R to rotate any brush you make :) Let me know if it helps

Depends on the model. Basically the origin of the model is different to what it rotates in Radiant (or atleast it is different for some models). Some doors will rotate in the middle if they were not setup correctly by treyarch, so only certain ones work.

Can you link different doors to go away with one buy like in actual zombies maps? Like how if you buy one door it unlocks multiple doors that lead to that same exact area.

Ya, just have the other door named the same thing as the door you want to open, so you could have 2 triggers and 2 doors, the doors are named the same and the triggers both target both doors

Do you have spawns for your character? (the script spawns not the ones you find in folders)

I'mBullet I have no clue then, the only times this happened to me is when I didn't have a spawn or sky box, open a post on a forum. There are plenty of people more experienced then me

in zombies and multiplayer can you do intractable things like ghost where you can blow up a door or activate a bridge with a normal button or a gate by shooting it

that's cool because I sort of wanted to ask someone to make a multiplayer map with these features or maybe even a zombies map where you can accidentally blow open a door when zombies are in an area and you throw a grenade or you can change the map by shooting a path way suspended by wires or a gate to block off zombies

Well a lot of this is the same from World at War, but I've been modding for about 4 years now - I already know how to write script for call of duty and I also try stuff out myself

What about just a standard door that moves down when you buy it? I have a garage door I simply want to roll down.

Same process; drag the door down to where you want it to go (say, coordinates (0, 0, -115), for example) and enter those coordinates in the script_vector KVP of the door

if im adding doors and zones to a map with prefabs in it, do i add the doors into the prefabs or outside of the prefabs onto the base map?

It doesn’t make any difference if it’s in a prefab or not. When you compile it all is just one map file at the end of the day 😛

@@GrainPain You can use a tool called Greyhound. Its a bit of a process, but you basically have to export the model out of the game, then import it back in using APE.

If we dont want the door to rotate can we just delete it after buying in game?

So you just want the door to disappear? Doors will stay in the map after activating them (they will move or rotate and still exist afterwards) Debris will delete once its done moving but can only move to a struct and cannot rotate.

I've followed the video, but when i test the map, i buy the debris and i still cant walk through where the clip is. The debris disappears as it should.

When I make doors, in game instead of saying "Open Door 1250" it simply says "not available" help???

That means you didn't put the correct kvps into the trigger, watch the tutorial closely and make sure you spell everything perfectly

you need to do a soft compile first. In the Black Ops 3 Mod Tools Launcher, check the map you wish to test, then check the 3 boxes on the right (compile, light, and link). If you are not totally done with the map yet, I suggest setting it to "Full" and "Low" (the little drop down menus next to the check boxes). Then click "Build". Let it finish. You will know it's done when it says "Build" again instead of "Cancel". Then uncheck the previously checked "Compile", "Light", and "Link". And check "Run" instead. Then click "Build" once more and the test should start up. Just give it a minute or two. If it still gives you an error after that, you might have removed something in the actual map that enables it to run.

When you try to test your map if it is a error with reading the fast file you need to also check off link under light. I ran into the same problem but fixed it.

Is there a way to add lightning effects to the debris when it is purchased like back in world at war? I'm guessing there is since it has it in the actual maps in the game.
