I own a boombox 2, and this goes to anyone who is interested in buying one of these: The sound quality is absolutely amazing, this speaker will not disappoint you. It sounds beautiful outside and it has a perfect balance of vocals and bass to make it sound crisp, i couldn’t ask for more really. Speakers like the Sonos Move may sound clearer, but with lots of other speaker brands, they just don’t tick all the boxers like JBL does when it comes to quality, durability and features

Battery lasts more than 24 hours and definitely has the best bass in portable speakers. I've been using it for the last 2 years and it never disappoints me anywhere at all.

@@ben90288 I got a boombox 2 yesterday from curry’s for £230 (should be £450 in UK.) If you can catch the same deal, I promise you it’ll be a no-brainier. I can’t say how loud it is from 100ft, but I’ve had it at max volume in my bedroom, and it makes makes my very sturdy wardrobe shake, walls vibrate, and you can feel the audio thumping in your chest. I assure you won’t be disappointed with it - I’m blown away by it from just 24 hours with it

@YT-.- To me, Boombox 2 is the best indoor speaker I own (it falls apart outdoors however). It sounds better than both Boombox 3 models and also better than Boombox 1, because it's the most neutrally tuned out of them.

Good review, you have covered all the speaker's basics. I just want to add that, now in 2024, I went to purchase the BB3 and decided to do a comparison with the BB2, given the better price and availability at the store. I ended up taking the JBL BB2 and this is. the reason why: BB2 is better music equipment - music, not those electronic sounds the majority of people go to test speakers. Classical music, heavy metal. blues, celtic, New Age, Brazilian Bossa Nova, flamenco music. The BB3 is indeed a great speaker, but has one thing in mind: bass, lots of bass. But if you listen to some Bach Cello sonatas, BB3 gives you what is not a natural sound. Metallica music gets too extensive - nonbraced bass sound, giving a punch, but not a natural one. So, all that given, I found the BB2 a natural, more neutral sound. It has a tendency to expose more the middle frequencies, but it is a solid, well-balanced speaker. Just to note, the BB2 is louder!

This is the best echo device I’ve ever owned. I love it. The sound quality is great. Voice recognition is wonderful. The only thing I dislike is that I can’t always use my echo remote when I want to go to the next song. This occurs when I Bluetooth my Apple iPad to the echo and listen to music.

It’s a nice speaker, but not worth 500 bucks. I have a Bose close to the same size and the bass isn’t even close. It’s a JBL so I knew what I was buying. Great for parties and such.

Yep the price is so overpriced....it does have deep kick bass wow but sound clarity is not even clear enough to hear the vocal even with eq setting. It's just made for bass listener. Our Samsung curve 2.1 speaker $200 subwoofer sound so much clearer with deep bass. You can hear vocal and instrument as bass doesn't drown them. So idk why do people like this speaker saying sound so good

This is my portable speaker of choice. Modified to meet my requirement needs. If the partybox 1k had a decent built in battery then that would have been my choice for outdoor use(s). If you can get this under for under $400 usd tho or less ie: used, on sale, etc... as I did (x2 actually for stereo mode where most of these portable speakers shines imho) then go for it. Otherwise, the MSRP asking price is simply just too much as most if not all would agree at this point. Which makes the newest BB3’s price even the more ludicrous. Heck, I got a pair of BB3’s too but returned them after a week since I personally wasn’t impressed with them and was more than happy to keep using these until a real better predecessor which has better specs, design, etc... drops.

Honestly, if you’re looking for something in your car, I would go for the party box 100 it’s stronger when it comes to bass and sound definitely gets louder. I don’t know by how much because all you do is put that in your backseat and your thumping, I say the boombox is better for that kind of sound if you’re trying to go to the beach and stuff like that or just walk around with it

Had the first boombox and it lasted about a year. Not sure if it was from constant use at full volume or being over charge. Just stop keeping a charge. Just got the boombox 2 hoping this one last longer!!! Sounds great just like the first one.

It's the best tuned speaker for it's size. It's only drawback is the fact it's mono.

@@kailumgg7736 I disagree. While the actual stereo separation is small, it's easy to hear the lack of it. And there's a lot of other things that matter. Treble always sounds off on mono speakers due to the downmixing, soundstage is non existent, sound dispersion is poor, when tracks use reverb to give dimensionality to the sound, it's completely lost in mono. Also I have a few tracks that sound completely wrong on mono speakers, no matter how flat their frequency response is.

@@kailumgg7736 Bass (and also mids to a lesser extent) is never the issue when it comes to sound dispersion, it's the treble that roll off as soon as you don't face the speaker. Stereo (even if it's only stereo tweeters) always help to provide better sound dispersion. When it comes to Boombox 2 (which I also own), I do hear all of the things I mentioned in my previous comment. But even on a similarly sized speaker as Charge 5, such as Soundcore Motion +, the difference is easy to hear. I do have an ear for that kind of thing though, I've listened to around 30 speakers extensively. By the time you hear a lot of speakers, you pick up small details like this really easily. And the lack of these details bother me quite a bit.

@@vicor910 as I tested I know JBL doesn't make good speaker then just there headphone. Not worth it as I did a comparison to my 200 dollar Samsung curve 2.1 speaker system. It's loud kick big bass wow but vocal and instrument you could hear it but as it the bass is drowning them and yes I had equalizer on my phone. Samsung curve sound better you could hear the vocal as if they singing in front of you and even though the bass is big boomy. JBL boombox is just perfect for drinking party or club. For 500 dollar not worth it should be 300..... I going to get Sony xb43 instead
