Great review. I have a Charge 3 and my only gripe with it is its significant Bluetooth latency (i.e. when using iOS synth apps such as KORG Gadget). It’s really only a concern when recording/performing via an external MIDI controller, and the speaker’s AUX input can be used as a workaround, but still… Does the Pulse 3 exhibit noticeable (greater than, say, 30-40ms) latency when using its Bluetooth? And does it have an AUX audio input?

I think the 3 looks better but 2 is a good looking speaker. Sounds great too. I have the Pulse 2 and this video doesn't do the sound quality justice. If I cared about the lights I'd probably upgrade but I always turn them off to save battery.

+Happy Times pulse 2 has jbl connect and the pulse 3 has jbl connect Plus. They don't connect together. The only speaker that connects to the newer speakers with jbl connect plus is the charge 3 which just got a firmware update recently. Otherwise JBL connect plus is not backward compatible to jbl connect

I've owned a Pulse 2 for a couple of years now, and I've always liked it but wished it had a bit more bass. I was excited for the Pulse 3. I recently got to see and hear it in person a few days ago. I hate to say it, but it was disappointing for two reasons. (1) The sound isn't very good. It sounds a bit muddy. There's more bass, but the clarity of sound is not as good as the Pulse 2. (2) The Pulse 3 is much larger than the Pulse 2. After listening to both speakers, I would suggest the JBL Charge 3. The size is compact, the sound quality is great. I would definitely choose the Charge 3 over the Pulse 3.

That is my only gripe with the pulse2; it's lows. Id say a generous 6-7/10 for the lows. But very nice mids/highs though - both 8.5/10. Usual setup is 77% volume on both speaker and player.

You can connect them using a headphone splitter (via aux) then connect to the source, your phone or computer. I know it is not a wireless connection but it works.

+Vadim Fayzullin What you are trying to do is impossible. The pulse 2 uses JBL connect while the Pulse 3 has jbl connect plus. Those two firmwares are not compatible. So it's not you, JBL screwed.

Yo they actually didn't remove the color sensor. They just moved it to the app. You take a picture on your phone and it'll transfer to the speaker.

DLX Willington, u can change the Brightness levels using JBL Connect+ App..U forgot to mention that...yes, in the outdoors you can reduce the brightness levels of the Pulse 3 Light show, to adjust to the amount of light present..Brightness levels are set to default levels in Pulse 3, and that can be changed...

$150 is actually a good price for the Pulse 3 if it's brand new. Lowest I could find is $175. I just bought the Pulse 2 for $99 not knowing about the Pulse 3 and I wish I have gone with the Pulse 3. With that price, I say you make a mistake and go with the pulse 2. The Pulse 3 is vastly improved in sound quality as you can see in the sample video and has 360 sound features. It also has a better design and looks way better and sleeker than the pulse 2.
