What did you expect? This is not the PRX series which is tailored more towards the consumer/DJ market, this is a professional tool and it does exactly what it says on the tin. If you would have just READ the product description... With SRX and above, you get less flashy bells and whistles and more real audio performance. I wouldn't want my speakers to be accessible via WiFi at all. much to big of a risk. For you application, it would make sense of course, the PRX800 do what you want perfectly btw., but the SRX are a totally different beast when it comes to audio quality and that port in the back is manily for HiQ net ind integration in larger systems, the iPad app is a nice goodie, but really not the main selling point here (opposed to the PRX series). That said, as a soud egineer I am pretty puzzled as to where the problem is in installing that router in your mixer case like anybody would do, and simply set up those two cat lines. You got 2 (TWO) speakers to set up man, get over it :D To me that sounds like a vacation :D So my advise would be to simply get two hybrid cables with power, XLR and Cat5, so you can hook the speakers up with just one cable and be done with it. Easy. Apart from that, it's about time you get yourself a decent digital mixer anyway. Even with something like a Behringer X32 you can easily adjust everything you would need to on those speakers incl. crossovers, delays etc.. Once you had a bit of experience in controlling your PA and working with subtle compression etc. on your input channels, you could propel your sound to a whole different level than you are at right now. Try it, it's worth it!

jbl srx 812p, 815p is currently the best speaker model in the world. You can test with other companies. jbl srx is the best. It plays beautifully on basic settings, but when used with bass you need to set the presets to 80, 100, 120 hz. For music lovers, the Architecture program allows you to create your own preset for the speaker.

Thanks for the info man great video as usual ..message to the DJ's don't let the chase for new gear get in the way of DJing it's what you love.. think about when you started out with gear that was good enough. Sometimes it's not worth the frustration to chase a couple more dbs. Same thing goes for software and controllers. You already have the driverack run everything flat on the SRX . We DJ parties and weddings we don't record studio records. Have fun make money no need to spend it on New gear every time something comes up unless they make 2000 watt speakers and subs lighter in weight then count me in..lol

Make some cable looms of power, ethernet, and XLR, then you run one cable loom to each speaker. This solves your problem of having to run multiple cables.

Thanks for the video Rick! Speaking from a mobile DJ's perspective (not a sound engineer) I completely get what you're saying. Suggestion: Pre Wire your audio, power, and ethernet cables with velcro ties. make them 25ft, or 50 ft. It will not be a one size fits all, but It will take out some hassle of having to bunch them together gig after gig.

OK, so I get what your saying. let me see if I can help ya out a little bit here. You can get dual Ethernet port 'homeplug' (which is Ethernet over power to those who do not know) adapters relatively cheaply. so, how does this help. Well simply put, running power to the speakers is a 'must', why not utilize that same connection to run your speaker comm's back to 1 central router which is directly connected to your laptop in your booth. On a 4 speaker setup (ie 2 tops and 2 bass units which each top being in close proximity to a sub) you would need one, 2 port homeplug adapter and 2 short Ethernet cables, and this unit only has to plug into a power outlet or extension cable (which you already have in close proximity to power your speaker. These things work out of the box, plug and play, and create a wired network using the lines. Yes, they are not fantastic for high network traffic applications but are perfect for making a wired connection seemingly wireless. Below link is a pair of such adapters, that's 4 ports or connectivity for 2 pairs of speakers for around 35 - 40 of your USD's (obviously you would need to ensure you are buying the right variant for your country's plug's). They make wireless variant's of these unit's to make a wired device wireless, I have never had to do this but the option is there. AND they even make a router in the same line negating the need for multiple connections at the 'booth' end of things. in your booth you will just have one homeplug router connecting to the power supply and 1 short Ethernet cable going to your laptop to give you full connectivity to all of your speakers wherever they may be. www.amazon.co.uk/Powerline-Homeplug-Internet-Ethernet-Technology/dp/B00C5IA4XI/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1519919554&sr=8-15&keywords=powerline+ethernet+adapter So... I hope this helps people out with this issue. I am intending on buying the 835's and eventually the dual sub's to match them and this will be the wiring system I will be using for comm's connectivity. Just a quick note on ease of setup, I always find it helpful, when you first buy these things, the manufacturers claim that you don't have to, but I find it makes things easier and quicker and more pain free. Take a power extension strip and plug it into an outlet... next take your router, plug it in and configure it how you want it. when you save settings it will restart.. when the router is fully back up and running, take your first adapter and plug it in directly next too the router plug on the same power strip, wait for it to initialize (self setup and connection), when all the LED's are showing correctly, test connectivity to the router.... leave that one in place and plug in the next, and the next and the next, (well most people would only have 2 - 4 adapters for this application) but you can have up to 17 (I think) adapters on a single loop. Do it this way and they will all join up and communicate perfectly. Once they have done this initial handshaking procedure of self configuration, you can then move the adapters anywhere you like, plug them in and off you go. I PERSONALLY find that they do not like being plugged in at the end of a of daisy chain of surge protected power strips .... but in best practice, as professionals we wouldn't be doing that anyway. Again I hope this helps someone out :D

Wired data connection is THE RIGHT way to go for this application, when there are 100s of people with WiFi (bluetooth) devices - phones, airpods, watches, etc etc... Though using WiFi in such env will work, but with some latency and glitches now and then.

Maybe if you wanted wireless built in you should have looked at the PRX800 series- I personally would like to be in control of the quality of router since I'm already running cables from a central location and cat 5 cables are pretty cheap for even 25-50 ft- although I do have a DR360 I am curious of the redundancy - I am very satisfied with the 360 but would be interested on the Audio Architect application. I've been a JBL fan for a while and am currently selling off my srx725's (heavy) and other srx700 series amps and replacing with the srx800 series - thoughts are welcome

Sorry about the requirements to do real Pro Audio. No system that can handle large crowds at high SPL with great quality, or is more than a few settings and a couple EQ options, has built-in wifi. None. Look into other control systems - they're all wired. You have to run power and signal to your speakers anyway - just buy a box of black Cat. 6 (or Cat. 5E if you want to be cheaper) and crimp your own ends. You can do your own ends in 2 minutes each (with practice, and a simple tester), and have custom length cables that match your XLR's out of your board. Watch Dave Rat teach you how to solder your own XLR's (and run sound on 7 stages at Coachella), and you can sell custom cables to your buddies to pay for your own.

A wireless access point per speaker should work and be fairly cheap per speaker. this would eliminate extra long runs of ethernet cables and make them wireless.

You seem irritated about it not having a wireless router built in. This is a good thing. I would never trust onboard wifi on a speaker!!!! The easy solution for this and will resolve your irritations would be, loom cables together and label them. Loom your audio cables, power cables and data cables together plus a few spares.

Yeah, the networking sucks.. My smaller rig is the PRX800 line with built in WiFi - MUCH easier to deal with. What I did with my SRX800 rig (4x835sp + 4x828SP) is get two 8-port switches (one for each stack), plug the speakers into the switch, and then run ethernet to my witless router. Easy to network- but still a pain in the butt while adding that extra layer during setup - plus I was not exactly happy with the SRX Connect app - Audio Architect was far easier to control (albeit OVERKILL for the average local sound guy). That all being said - I networked my SRX800's maybe twice and decided I don't really need that level of control over the speakers. For the shows I do, I rarely need extra DSP control or to fart around with delay, etc...

It is correct that you can't connect a Wireless ROUTER configured as ROUTER to each speaker However, you can connect one Wireless ACCESS POINT to each speaker. Using the correct tool for the task is always a good start.... Most Wireless Routers can be CONFIGURED to work as an AP, so in practice your statement is false.... (Say you have 4 speakers that you want to control wirelessly. Take 4 routers. Configure one of the routers as router and the 3 others as APs. Voilà!)

Qsc k12.2 is mi grade. JBL srx is touring grade. And I like to see who says they are the same. The JBL has more wattage and a higher spl. The JBL is a wooden cabinet and it uses higher quality components which is why it is classified in touring speakers, not mi (consumer speakers)
