The9thRapist frequency response of both speakers: Sony 20-20k , JBL 50-20k and the bass is cleaner on the Sony compared to jbl. Jbl radiators are ass and that’s all I hear when bass is present

I have an XB41 and I'm really happy with it. With treble set to max it sounds really good with a very nice low end. Micro USB charging is so convenient, it has NFC which the JBL does not, has LDAC support, and now costs literally half as much ($150). The lights are pretty sweet.

I've gone to best buy multiple times and demo'd both the xb41 and xtreme2, and to me its the Sony that takes the cake. He's right about Sony delivering more and it does so in Spades compared to other speakers. But even if Sony didn't have their signature bass boost, the JBL's sound seems to me to be more pulled back and reserved. The same could be said about their over the ear headphones compared to Sony's over the ear headphones. Great bass and overall sound with Sony, reserved and pulled back on JBL.

Sony better, because the extra bass mode increases the low tones, so when the speaker plays at 30%, you can hear more low tones than the others, but you can hear nice bass, which is not JBL when you give louder bass in JBL increases. In Sony music center I set bass: +10, mids: +3, treble: +10 and I think Sony sounds perfect. The louder you give the more high and medium tones can be heard. That is why I always listen in extra bass mode because I hear strong bass when listening quietly

For the lack of volume and mids for the JBL speaker, you get more rounded and powerful bass and crisper highs compared to the XB41 speaker, even with the extra bass on. Have the JBL compare to the XB41 again with Low Frequency Mode enabled.

Hm I own both of them so I can give an unbiased opinion and for me the Xtreme 2 also wins in the sound department. The XB41 just sounds muffled compared to the Xtreme even though the bass is of course better. But the extra tweeters on the Xtreme 2 prevent any distortion that the XB41 sadly suffers from sometimes. Also I can't really describe it but the Xtreme 2 bass is something you feel while the XB41 bass is something you hear....

I was looking for a speaker in the lower category. I compared the Sony xb31 to several speakers including JBL ones. The Sony is the only one which actually plays back mid range frequencies. This fact can even be seen in your EQ measurement section! And speaking of actual audio fidelity. I think the Sony is the better choice!

The Wireless Party Chain is easier for Android with NFC. Just press the WPC button on each of the speakers and give it some time, then find the speaker with the blinking Bluetooth logo on top. After that, just place your phone on top of the NFC logo found on the speaker and wala! I like to choose the jbl extreme 2 however without the flashly lights it's just not a party for me.

As always, it's more about personal preference. Sony is much brighter in the midrange. If you like vocals to stand out more then the Sony is what you want. I prefer the more balanced sound of the JBL. I've been looking for a Bluetooth speaker that isn't all bass and midrange, I may have found it in the JBL.

The Sony xb41 is not an audiofile speaker. It sounds boxy and the mid range is topped off from crisp highs because there are no tweeters which limits sound separation. The bass is boomy without fine definition. In my opinion, it is an average speaker without highlights.

I really dont like open passive radiators on the JBL. They should have at least some sort of screen over them, i know they dont have coils cause their not speakers, but if you tear one it would ruin the speakers sound due to air not being sealed in the box anymore.

The other issue with this speaker is the battery design. At 20% the volume drops off dramatically. It becomes unusable in an outdoor setting. Even when plug in with AC power, the battery will still drain at high volumes. This is a major design flaw in my opinion. I did not pay full price for this speaker. For the price I paid, it is still not worth it. The Sony xb41 must be redesigned from the ground up.

Actually, sony is better for fidelity and high resolution sound. It supports LDAC and AAC, which is better for WAV and FLAC files than the SBC JBL speakers are stuck on. Also, I have the xb41, and with the bass tuned back, it's clear in every facet. I'm not sure about keeping it cuz I want something of the awos exos 9 or xb60 caliber (BIIIG party sound and wide frequency and then I'll EQ it for a flat response). I might keep it though, not sure. It can get really loud and acts like it has a subwoofer in there.
