By no means a proficient foiler, I’ve made some cable laps, boat tows, and have not been successful with my kite yet. My tips for first time riders: 1. First ride(s) try to prevent the board from even getting up on the foil - it teaches you how to control the foil. 2. Don’t think about weight distribution, but hips (pelvis) location, stacked over your front foot. 3. Fall away from the foil!! That mast and wing is sharp and will mess you up! Don’t try to power through a fall, bail safely. Well done getting on the magic carpet ride!

I disagree with the last point. You don't really want to power through, but you want to either ride the board into the water by diving the nose, or if you are back, keep leaning back and push the board forward. You get hurt when you try to bail off the sides and the foil pivots up towards your face. It is always better to stay on the board side and to stay with the board. You get hurt when you try to get away from the foil on the edge sides.

I grew up skysking and my dad would do all sorts of flips and tricks. This looks really cool but after you learn how to ride it there doesn't seem to be much more beyond that. I like to watch your wakeboarding videos for inspiration, keep at it!

🩸🔪 ⚠️ Careful! Foil wings are very sharp. I got cut bellow my ribs really bad on one. I'm an advocate of beginners wearing helmets. The fall @ 8:18 made me super nervous, based on my past experiences. Stay safe out there. Take a break when you get tired. I get sloppy when I'm fatigued and that's when I got sliced. Love ❤️ the feel of foiling.

Check Clearwater foils, if your not afraid to get your hands dirty and lay some fiberglass, you can buy a foil kit for 140$-365$ and a board for 155$ plus the price of the glass and resin totaling probably 450-600$ you could have a 1,500$ foil

shim where the mast meets the board to sharpen the “angle of attack” and you’ll carve and rip like a dream

It levels out the board so you’re not “popping a wheely”. It also makes pumping muuuucchh easier. Notice in your video when you’re foiling level your boards nose is way up.

The water of lake Austin comes from the bottom of a 180 foot deep lake, so even know it’s hot outside, the water is ice cold
