I'm writing this comment for my future self, I feel so lost right now, like I dont know where I'm going in life and life isnt helping me find my way either...its been this way for a while but I want to have faith that this is all for the better, that there is a reason for why some things dont go the way I would want. So I'm going to play this song as loud as I need to and sing along with it cause it really feels like this is the song my heart is singing to me whenever I'm feeling lost or in need of answers. The first part of the song just hits me right in my soul... 0:00 - 1:14 but the whole song is just one of my favorites. Thanks J.Cole for this beauty! I hope I'm doing much better and laugh at how I was crying writing this later on. NOV. 15, 2019

When I first heard this song, probably about 8-9 years ago, I was a kid, confident in myself, not caring so much about my family just feeling like the coolest ever and I can do anything I want with my "canvas". I liked many parts of the songs, but didn't really feel the "mother" part as much because she didn't have same problems like J Cole's mom and also I was not having a great relationship with my mom and didn't think she believed in me, but the opposite... now if you read all that -> 3 years ago my mother went through a surgery and even though there were some complications, it pulled through but a year after that in February 2022, she went into a coma and died... now I understand what Cole means when he says "I need to treat you better, wish you could live forever, so we could spend more time together...". I wish I spent more time with her, loving her, showing her how much I care for her and what she did to me. To grow-up to be able to give back all that she gave me, to take care of her as she gets older and older as she did with me while I was younger.. I fucking miss her so dearly.. and all my "canvas" all my confidence all my jazz/cool I felt until the moment she died, it just died with her because "Apparently, she believed in me" and that's all I needed.. I LOVE YOU MOMMA!

He's reached a level of lyricism that I'm pretty sure no awards album chart ratings can come anywhere near to the level of IMPORTANCE HE HOLDS SPECIAL FOR when HE can see that his embedded messages were actually pulled from his music and he can witness the message affect others in whatever way he designed it to. J Cole doesn't create music.... J Cole is creating Culture. (KNOWLEDGE IS POWER KIDS ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT) Those who say "I don't know or i don't get it". Are mindless idiots who choose to live as modern day compony slaves. But those who choose to "UNDERSTAND AND FIND ANSWERS Those individuals are free from societies sick trap.

Miss you mom, I'm still here. Dad and sis is up there with you in heaven. I'm still trying to get Brett out out of prison . I'm alone by family means but god has sent other to help me on me journey. I still have the faith but battle many demons.

J.Cole Sound so smooth!! The flow is crazy and the beat is so damn mellow. Im glad this album was successful!!! Real Hip hop is making a comeback in 2015
