It's pretty obvious that they are into each other. For one, they are very affectionate towards each other. They hugged in Gears 4 at the end. The makers also tweeted out a picture of Kait and JD together for Valentines day. Throught Gears 4 and 5 teammates tease them about it. And in Gears 5 it was like their first fight but they made up when Kait thanks JD. I think the reason why they aren't in a relationship is just for the plot. There are no romances in Gears 4 and 5 and I'm willing to bet that's on purpose. I bet that's one reason they killed Anya off screen.

i feel the reason Romance in gears isn't really explored all that much is because of the brutal world the characters live in they live in constant war and in war you should expect to loose friends and family left and right at any time. in one of the GOW novels set during the locust war it was confirmed that Anya had massive romantic feelings for Marcus but Marcush while feeling the same about her shut her down because he believed that there was no life for them and that he would simply die on the front lines. and what happend after gears 3 is also proof of why romance is never focused on because it's implied in both gears 3 and 4 that Marcus and Anya's marriage pretty much fell apart after she became first minister of the cog and that she forced JD on them both as in she signed them both up to the fertility program and by whats implied involuntary on Marcus part meaning he was forced to be a dad hence why marcus was always so cold towards his son and shipped him off to miltary school the day Anya dropped.

The civilian shooting was wrong but he shouldn't say sorry for being an "Asshole" for following orders and doing what was right in that situation (They were throwing Incendiary grenades, not protesting.) And still bothers me that Kait became MC instead of the son of the war hero Marcus, JD, a higher rank than her btw and Del will follow anyone because the plot tells him too. All im saying is that if Kait had this Sas in the Locust war, she'd be sent off to the Hollow as a punishment, but now i think of it that would actually help her case😅. EDIT: Its 2024 and i replayed and i will im less angry about it, also the E-Day trailer gave me hope. BACK TO J.D I really think Gears 5 should have been about JD. Look. I like Kait.(Atleast i kinda do now) I think her character is cool. However, I dont like her chosen one story line. I know a lot of others don't either. I think she should have stayed as a grounded character for JD. I think JD has an interesting story of being the son of Marcus Fenix and wants to always try and live up to his fathers reputation when, in reality, it's one of his major flaws. I think Kait could have been a really good Anya type character for JD trying to keep him focused on doing the right thing rather than trying to be the hero and someone he isn't. Reminding him on what exactly they were fighting for. Let the story revolve around JD trying to be so much like his father he begins to push his family and friends away until he learns to just be himself and fight the swarm the right way instead of the reckless hero wav

i didn't hate the open areas just that it was kind off cheating when the coalition bragged that this was the "longest gears game to date" but it honestly isn't it's open area side missions you are forced to complete before moving onto the next advancement in the story which is the literal definition of pointless filler i still enjoyed the extended gameplay but i kind off felt cheated that the "extra hours of gameplay were wasted on nothing really"

He feels guilty about settlement 2 and probably beats himself up over it wanting to know if there was a better way. Marcus knew about settlement 2 - that's why JD wants to prove himself so much to his Dad.. because Marcus was probably real pissed at him. 2.) The hammer of dawn killed civilians, gears, and friend lizzie carmine and he got hurt real bad. He probably felt like Del, Kait, Baird. Marcus and the rest hated him.. and didn't want anything to do with him.. so he just outcasted himself. He is going through a mental collapse. Survivors guilt probably from the hammer, getting people killed, ordering the firing on those settlers, and constantly wanting to prove himself to his dad. Takes it toll.

JD living makes more sense because his story would mirror Marcus's not to mention that it would make for some really great father son moments between Marcus and JD like i can just imagine that in gears 6 JD is still dis-trot by dels death and marcus tells him about his uncle dom whom he lost before he was born and they bond over the fact that both have lost a brother. i just feel that JD Living opens up more avenues than dels does because if Dels death is canon then that pretty much screams that Marcus dies next game because he's got nothing left to live for and he doesn't get the chance to actually be a good dad for once because the JD Living ending shows a big moment for marcus and that is him being a dad to JD probably for the first time in both their lives. if JD dies then that character development goes away for both of them whereas del is a character who pretty much was a dead end a smart nerd with a quick wit and that was it honestly. he had an arc like dom and it was forfilled.

That Dosen't make any sense, and they are technically a couple during and after Gears 4, was so much tension between the two so it's no surprise they end up together especially with the look Kait gives JD after she thanks him for helping her find the hammer of Dawn satellites.

The biggest problem to the new gears gsme is that these characters are all just insufferable. Kait and JD come across as self centered, and really annoying without any likable traits. Kait tried to sound badass but she just comes across as someone trying to hard. The forced sympathy with the loctus queen In the new games too is pretty bad as well. When you have to force the audience to try and sympathize with your characters that’s when you know your game is bad.
