Watched this clip before. Still blows me away. JD gave me and my son his 60 LP to check out at his gig in NY. Awesome human and amazing talent.

The night I got to meet him, he let me play his prototype custom that Gibson was putting out, he’s so dang cool

For any of those who have seen the long interview with Don Kelley here on KZbin, he talks about this same story when JD first sat in with them. Don said him and Dave Roe’s jaw about hit the floor when they heard JD play, and he was one of the best guitar players they had ever heard. JD is very very humble. So cool to hear his story

JD's story is so inspiring! When you consider his non-country background, it's all the more STAGGERING to watch him play. He is a MONSTER player!!!

Wow! I saw JD at Roberts Western Wear with Don Kelly while in Nashville for work in 2013 or so. Seemed so effortless back then. I didn't know this story. Wow!

slowing this down (did you know you can do that right in Settings on KZbin) will expose some great nuance to his picking when he starts playing. love how he is using muted notes to keep the rhythm strong.

and just as you couldn't play his guitar as well as him, you couldn't wear his scarf as well
