@@calliegal235 unfortunately according to your lord and damner Calvin, there is nothing JD Vance can do about it as he has no free will. He will be damned, Calvin teaches, because God predestined him for it. Consequently, your prayers can do nothing about it and the pervasive instruction throughout the Bible to pray for others is actually a scam. But for yourself, do not despair as you can, as a reformed Christian, put all your trust in OSAS and "Sin boldly" as that other great light, Martin Luther, encourages reformed Christians to.

I was born into the Catholic church. I was baptised and made my first communion and confirmation. I always felt empty. I started to read the bible and was saved by Jesus by grace through faith alone. I came out of the Catholic church in 2015. Jesus didn't die on the cross to give me a religion He died to give me a relationship.

Your desire for a personal relationship with Christ is admirable, but separating it from the Church Christ established misses the mark. The Church isn’t just a “religion”; it’s His Body (Eph. 1:22-23), where we find the fullness of His grace through the sacraments. The Bible you read was preserved by the early Church, and its teachings align with a living faith expressed in both worship and doctrine. True faith isn’t “me and Jesus” alone; it’s union with Him through His Church, as He intended.

Bottom line ... you got it. God wants a One New Man church consisting of Jews and Gentiles, believing in Jesus, His Redemptive work on mankind's behalf, submitting in loving obedience to God the Father as Jesus (our example did) and God wants us to have an intimate personal relationship with Him, like His Son had with Him. Everything has a purpose but more often than not when I see these the person is strawmanming. It's either a Catholic that didn't understand Catholicism or a Protestant that never understood the objections to Catholicism. Take praying to Saints as one small example. It mostly hinges on a person's definition of worship. It's not typical for a person to just switch on this. What is more typical is for someone who never knew there was a definition dispute to hear the Catholic response for the first time and go with it, without looking back. Vise versa for Catholics. I've often heard Catholics say that the people who leave them for Protestants are the least educated. I don't doubt it but the same is generally true the other way around. I'm rambling now... 😅

@@CynHicks actually it’s very true that “Catholics” who leave the Church for Protestantism are not at all well versed in their faith. Protestantism today is very very simple, it’s do you accept Jesus as your Lord and savior, if you do you’re saved and are born again. No real confusion there and if you leave well they will say you were never born again to begin with. Now Catholicism is far far more complicated and far more rich and deep. Ask a catholic that became a Protestant to explain the “Mass” you will be lucky to find a few who understand it and its meaning. Ask a Catholic who left for Protestantism who Saint Igneous of Antioch was and why he is such and important Church Father, few will know, and it maters deeply. Maybe being a Christian should be very easy or maybe it should not be but one thing is for sure they are not equal for the good or the bad.

We move to Catholicism because we begin to see the mischaracterizations and straw men set up by evangelical Pastors. These are torn down by the official teachings of the church such as the catechism. Then we see the continuity the Catholic Church has throughout the ages since Christ. Game over. “Grace plus works” except the Catholic Church teaches that even any works we do are done by the grace of God and because of the work of Christ. That no man earns his way into heaven and our good works are meaningless unless we are in Christ by his grace.

How did we, the protestant church, become divided and are declared to have denominations?? They came in as shepherds, but in reality were wolves in sheeps clothing in England immediately after the reformation. Christ was born to ancient Israel, which had been apostate about four-hundred-years, and their religion was the beginning of modern Judeism. Every one of those new believers had to hear the gospel and be drawn unto Christ just as it has been for last 2k-years. We must be born-again of the Spirit. @@suzieaguilar397 Friend, Protestantism started divided. Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli didn't agree on everything, even on major things. The Anglicans were closer to the Lutherans, perhaps, but there were large enough differences that these bodies couldn't properly unify into one coherent temporal body. This is particularly odd because both Luther and Calvin thought that the Church should have visible unity, not just inviisble unity in Christ. If you're arguing that wolves came in and caused the division, those wolves were the Reformers themselves. To paraphrase from Saints Augustine, Gregory of Nyssa, and John Chrysostom - sin begets sin. The sin of schism produces more schism, just like the sin of lust produces more lust, and when the Protestant communions began, they _were_ schismatic, breaking off from the authorities we are obliged to obey according to Hebrews 13. Modern Protestants almost always are not schismatic - you were never under that authority structure - but each of the Reformers were. It is disingenuous at best to claim that Catholicism, or any other traditional branch of Christendom, is somehow counterfeit because they don't agree with Protestant doctrine or because they had some error in matters of discipline. If Protestant doctrine is true, it should at least be present in the form of a small remnant - just as it was in the Old Testament - throughout all of history since the time Christ bought the Church with his blood. As an ex-Protestant myself, there never was any sufficient evidence for this claim. The closest by far to having this 'spiritual succession' of doctrine throughout all of history in the form of a minority or remnant were the Anglicans and Lutherans before they engaged in a liberal reform of Christian morality

God is very merciful, loving and kind to those who love and worship His only begotten Son, and He is our Western God for those who have humbled themselves under the mighty rule of Christ. At this time, myriads of strangers have immigrated or brought here by Dem leaders after they warred with them. Most brought their religion with them. @@theSpaghettimeisterOn that point about Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli not agreeing about everything, it's true. With Luther believing that baptism saves, i've never understood how Friel supports him. It just seems inconsistent for him to go after the Catholic church and ignore that point about Luther, especially having seen some Calvinists go as far as saying you don't have to repent of your sin (that would be a work) and in fact repent because you were saved because you are elect. Virtually every protestant sect has something that I have seen a Calvinist go after as "works righteousness". That's just what I have observed anyway.

My mom converted to Catholicism almost 3 years ago. She and my dad had always been protestant, raised us kids to be protestant (really, I should say raised us to be Christian, b/c I know there's no difference really.) I didn't think this would be impactful in my life at all, but over the last few years I have learned the unfortunate truth of how my protestant faith is seen as so much of a "lesser" form of faith to those in the Catholic or Orthodox church, so much so that the probability of my salvation is very much in question at best, and most likely I am damned. It has been a hard pill to swallow learning of this rift in what I thought was a unified body of Christ. ( I personally do still think we are all the body of Christ if we are true believers, regardless of what church we attend. I just thought ALL Christians believed this...) I am struggling still, years later, to reconcile this knowledge and yet have peace with my mom's conversion and not let it bother me that she sees my faith as "lesser", or that she prays for me to become Catholic because what I am now is not sufficient (in her and her church's eyes) But it really hurts... I don't want to harbor these feelings anymore. I feel it is blocking me from honoring my mother the way God wants me to. I know I need to confess these feelings to my mom, but it is so hard. Especially because I feel she will just confirm my thoughts and feelings by saying what I know is true; She truly believes the Catholic church to be the one true church and that I should join it for my own good. I just do not agree. So I do not know how to even approach this convo with my mom. If you read this far, thank you for listening. Please take heart, my sister/brother(?) in Jesus Christ! I was raised Catholic and was gloriously saved at age 18. I can understand how you wish to honor your parents but you must hold fast to your faith in Jesus Christ and His Word which tells us that we must not put anyone or anything ahead of Him and our revelation of His saving grace. My father left the Baptist church to marry my RomanCatholic Mother and when I got saved, my father told me I could not be sold out completely to Christ. I told him that I loved him and wanted to honor him, but I honored and loved my Heavenly Father more and that my obedience to Him and His Word, the Bible, came first in my life. I raised all of my 4 children to know Jesus and they found salvation by grace through faith in their young lives, much earlier than I did! Many are being deceived today because the Roman Catholic Church has in the past and does have today, such tight control over this earth. The most crucial difference between Catholics and Bible Christians is on the issue of salvation. Catholics view salvation almost entirely as a process, while Christians view salvation as both a completed status and a process. Catholics see themselves as “being saved,” while Christians view themselves as “having been saved.” First Corinthians 1:2 says, “To those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy.” The words “sanctified” and “holy” come from the same Greek root. This verse is declaring that Christians are both sanctified and called to be sanctified. The Bible presents salvation as a gift that is received the moment a person places faith in Jesus Christ as Savior (John 3:16). When a person receives Christ as Savior, he/she is justified (declared righteous - Romans 5:9), redeemed (rescued from slavery to sin - 1 Peter 1:18), reconciled (achieving peace with God - Romans 5:1), sanctified (set apart for God’s purposes - 1 Corinthians 6:11), and born again as a new creation (1 Peter 1:23; 2 Corinthians 5:17). Each of these is fully accomplished at the moment of salvation. Christians are then called to live out practically (called to be holy) what is already true positionally (sanctified). The Catholic viewpoint is that salvation is received by faith, but then must be “maintained” by good works and participation in the Sacraments. Bible Christians do not deny the importance of good works or that Christ calls us to observe the ordinances in remembrance of Him and in obedience to Him. The difference is that Christians view these things as the result of salvation, not a requirement for salvation or a means of maintaining salvation. Salvation is an accomplished work, purchased by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ (1 John 2:2). God offers us salvation and assurance of salvation because Jesus’ sacrifice was fully, completely, and perfectly sufficient. If we receive God’s precious gift of salvation, we can know that we are saved. First John 5:13 declares, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” We can know that we have eternal life, and we can have assurance of our salvation because of the greatness of Christ’s sacrifice. Christ’s sacrifice does not need to be re-offered or re-presented (as in the Mass). Hebrews 7:27 says, “He sacrificed for their sins once for all when He offered Himself.” Hebrews 10:10 declares, “We have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” First Peter 3:18 exclaims, “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice was absolutely and perfectly sufficient. Jesus declared on the cross, “It is finished” (John 19:30). Jesus’ atoning sacrifice was the full payment for all of our sins (1 John 2:2). As a result, all of our sins are forgiven, and we are promised eternal life in heaven the moment we receive the gift God offers us - salvation through Jesus Christ (John 3:16). I would encourage you to read the Bible and settle what it says forever in your heart. It is God breathed and our final authority. We must not add to it or take anything out of it. Research for yourself if all the practices of the Catholic Church are found in scripture. The Catholic Catechism is not the Bible. Ephesians is a good place to help you get grounded in what Jesus has done for us and I will pray for you to be able to stand strong against these attacks to your faith. God bless you❤

I would point out that your mother is still a Christian. The Catholic church doesn't look at your faith as "lesser than," rather missing out on full communion with the body of Christ. I am a Catholic Christian in a denominational mixed marriage. My wife's faith is an inspiration to me but like martin Luther, my conscience is beholden to the Word of God. If i could be protestant my life would be much easier but there are flaws in evangelical theology that i can't abide by. That being said, go to mass with your mom. Invite her to your church. Worship Jesus together as much as your conscience allows.

In my late twenties now, and was received into the Catholic Church almost 4 years ago after growing up Evangelical and then Baptist. I discovered that none of the genuine truth and vibrancy of my Protestant heritage was lost but only amplified and brought into a fullness in the Catholic Church after unraveling all the misconceptions and caricatures that I was told about Catholicism growing up and into my formative years as a Protestant. I think that’s a process JD Vance also underwent which is more than just the brief clip Todd showed here about how the Catholic Church is “old.” Do the honest work of wrestling with the best presentation of the apostolic faith of Catholicism and you may come away with a realization like Paul did when he encountered the risen Lord and realized that the Judaism he loved and fought for so zealously was only truly complete in the fullness of the messiah and his body, the one church

I think you'll find that Biblically-conservative Lutheranism is about in the same place you are; it doesn't teach that the church was completely wrong on the Eucharist, Mary, and tradition for 1500 years, only that some accretions occurred sometime around the 500-1000 year mark. The Lutheran answer to your question about the early disciples is, "Yes!" What attracted him was the conviction of the belief system, similar to what he grew up with, in that the Bible is the infallible word of God, versus the wishy-washiness of many evangelical churches today. He also liked the reverence of a more formal ceremony, versus the modern worship services in most evangelical churches. Finally, he liked the ancient history of the church as a whole. Oddly, he did not choose Catholicism because he feels that a Pope is not legitimate. (I did not say that and have nothing against the Catholic Church. Just relaying what he told me for the sake of this response.) so far the only issue I disagree with regarding the Greek orthodox. Church is their view on universalism. I don’t believe in it. I grew up Catholic. When I started reading my Bible, I realized how their doctrines are so wrong: baby baptism, Eucharist (not the same thing as the Lord's Supper), Virgin Mary as intercessor, many statues and lighting candles to them, the pope and his titles (the Vicar of Christ), the rosary, the rituals of the the seven sacraments save, purgatory, the last rites, and I could go on and on. The early Church did not practice those rituals and doctrines. The Catholic Church is not the mother church. They are the descendants of the Roman empire when Constantine mixed pagan practices with some Christian beliefs. True Christians never accepted those practices. They stayed separated from the practices the Romans introduced. The Roman Catholic Church then persecuted the ones that stayed true to Jesus' teachings. They prohibited the reading of the Bible and persecuted the ones who translated it from Latin to English. Please do your own research. Ask them how you get to heaven, question all their practices, and compare them to your Bible. What do they say about the Bible and its reading? 🙏🙏

People who are attracted to the Roman Catholic faith and are essentially citing it's established foundations and traditions as the reason why are seeking the assurance they receive by their works for salvation. There are only two kings of people: those saved and those lost. Of those people who believe they are saved many are actually lost, and of those, many are lost but seeking to be saved. Of those there are two ways people go about salvation: those who place their faith in the works of Jesus Christ alone, and those who place their faith in part or in whole in their own works. The Catholic church offers a religious structure that appeals to people who can't imagine salvation by grace through faith alone. They feel they can't rely on that only. So they augment that with something that feels more substantial to them. People are attracted to salvation by your own merit like moths are to a flame. It takes an actual miracle, an act of God, to change this default position of a person's heart.

@@MikaAnderson-z8y What is the One True Church? One of the most powerful tools the god of this world uses to blind people from the light of the Gospel and the glory of Christ is religious indoctrination (2 Cor. 4:4). This is why there is such a stubborn resistance to the Gospel by Roman Catholics. They have been indoctrinated to believe that their church is the one and only true church. It teaches that whoever refuses to enter or remain in the Catholic Church cannot be saved (Catechism, para. 846). The Roman Catholic Church Is Not the True Church The 21st century Roman Catholic Church does not bear any resemblance to the 1st century church portrayed in the New Testament. Nowhere in the Book of Acts do we see priests continuing the work of Christ's redemption on an altar during the sacrifice of the Mass. We do not find anyone praying for the dead, or venerating Mary and the saints, or transubstantiating wafers into the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus. Nor can we find any mention of indulgences, purgatory, infallible popes, or a sacerdotal priesthood. There is an indisputable explanation for this. Rather than obeying the exhortation of Jude to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints, the Catholic Church departed from the apostolic faith to follow deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons (Jude 3; 1 Tim. 4:1). Its apostasy was fully documented at the 16th century Council of Trent when it issued numerous anathemas against anyone who did not believe its "infallible" dogmas. The Professing Church Is Not the True Church Both believers and unbelievers are included in the professing church. Tragically, there are many who "profess" Christ but do not "possess" Christ. They are religious, but have no relationship with Christ. They have a zeal for God but it is not based on Biblical knowledge. Their names are on church rolls, but not in the Lamb's Book of Life. Jesus calls them "tares" who have been sown by the devil among the "wheat" (Mat. 13:24-30, 36-43). Some of them even call Jesus "Lord" and boast in what they are doing for salvation. These tares may one day hear the most terrifying words they could ever hear when Jesus declares, “I never knew you, depart from Me” (Mat. 7:23). The Body of Christ Is the One True Church The true church is the body of Christ and the family of God (Eph. 4:12; 1 Cor. 12:27). It is composed of all believers in the Lord Jesus who have been born again of God (John 1:12-13). It has only one Head, one Shepherd and one builder - the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the only church that Jesus purchased with His own blood (Acts 20:28). He adds to His church when a man is saved by believing His Gospel (Acts 2:47). Like the penitent thief on the cross, he may not have the opportunity to be baptized in water, but he has something far better, the baptism of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:13). Each member is being conformed to the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29). The One True Church Is Apostolic This is the only church which is truly apostolic because it is built upon the one foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone (Eph. 2:20). It upholds the doctrines they preached and contends for the faith of the apostles (Jude 3). It is the church of the living God that is the pillar and support of the truth (1 Tim. 3:15). This is the "holy catholic (universal) church" of the Apostles' Creed, with members in every part of the world where the Gospel is believed. This church is the chosen race, the purchased possession, the holy nation, the royal priesthood whose names are written in heaven (1 Pet. 2:9; Heb. 12:23). They are not citizens of this world but are only passing through on their way home to heaven. They labor in the fields white for harvest by proclaiming the voice of the Good Shepherd so His lost sheep will hear and follow Him (John 10:16). This is the church that is diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit because they are all taught by one Spirit (Eph. 4:3). The True Church Is Protected by the Power of God This is the church to which the Lord Jesus promises "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" and to which He says, "I am with you always, even unto the end of the world" (Matt. 16:18, 28:20). This is the only church which is certain to endure unto the end. No member will ever perish (John 10:28). Once enrolled in this church, sinners are safe for all eternity; they can never be cast away (John 6:37). The continual intercession of the Good Shepherd, coupled with the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit protects, every member (Heb. 7:25). This is the church which shall be truly glorious at the end, without spot or wrinkle, holy and blameless (Eph. 5:27). Pray for Those Outside the One True Church If anyone does not belong to the one true church at the end of their days, it will have been better if they had never been born. It is my prayer and heart's desire that Catholics and false converts who read this article will recognize they are on the wide road that leads to destruction. Let us plead with them to become a member of the true church by entering through the narrow gate that leads to eternal life (Mat. 7:13-14). from Mike Gendron, Proclaiming the Gospel

When I was born again I was (and always will be) aware of my wretchedness to sure an acute degree that I don't think I could ever imagine in my wildest dreams that I could do anything to earn my salvation. I am still amazed that God would save such a creature. 'Getting in' to Heaven based on your own feeble efforts seems to me an insult to God and a complete lack of understanding of our wicked helplessness.

Being “born again” doesn’t mean salvation is just about feeling bad about your sin-it’s about aligning yourself with Christ’s Church, the body He established to save us. Salvation isn’t just a personal feeling or one-time decision, but a lifelong journey of transformation in His grace. It’s not about our “feeble efforts,” but about living through Christ’s life-giving sacraments in His Church. Let go of the “me and Jesus” mindset and get with the full, ancient faith He gave us.

Absolutely, but salvation isn’t just about knowledge-it’s about being part of the true Church that Christ established. It’s not just about believing, but living out the faith in the fullness of the sacraments, Tradition, and the unbroken teachings of the apostles. Christ’s Church isn’t just an idea; it’s a reality, and it’s in the Church that salvation is worked out. Anything less than the fullness of the faith leads people away from the truth.

His salvation occurred in his heart and is a gift from the Lord, not something earned through ritual or works. But it sure was a joyful occasion! As Paul writes in Ephesians 2: 8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” May the Lord Jesus bless you as you walk in faith with Him.❤️✝️❤️

@lisafaser6031 His choice is a work. Denying his infant baptism and the free gift of the Holy Spirit and relying on his action makes it contingent upon him (works). We agree on salvation being a free gift from God. Please read the Catechism of the Catholic Church online (see paragraphs below) and you will realize that the guy in this video is speading a lie, which is a sin. Willfully ignoring the truth of what the Catholic Church teaches, even if you disagree, also is a sin. We both believe in Jesus and you seem like a nice person. Please don't hate what you don't understand. Blessings and peace to you and your family. 1996 Our justification comes from the grace of God. Grace is favor, the free and undeserved help that God gives us to respond to his call to become children of God, adoptive sons, partakers of the divine nature and of eternal life. 1997 Grace is a participation in the life of God. It introduces us into the intimacy of Trinitarian life: by Baptism the Christian participates in the grace of Christ, the Head of his Body. As an "adopted son" he can henceforth call God "Father," in union with the only Son. He receives the life of the Spirit who breathes charity into him and who forms the Church.

I think people are doing it because the evidence is becoming overwhelming that Jesus chose students to teach. He chose to have his teachings passed down though his students in an organized way that he set up. If Jesus wanted people to interpret a book he would have just written a book and told everyone to read it. Protestantism is just enlightenment rejection of the way Jesus chose for his teaching to be passed through out time. It doesn’t even make sense with in the story. You have to become like a Pharisee and a lawyer to pull out sentences at a time to twist the story of the gospels to try and make its seem like it’s saying something completely different than it clearly does.

About two years ago I decided to take on supposed contradictions and atheist arguments to better my apologetic skills defending the faith. I dove deep into Biblical scholarship, critical scholarship, textual criticism, source criticism, and the origins of Judaism and Christianity from both faith -based and nonfaith-based sources... and ended up, after 30+ years in the faith, an atheist... completely by accident. I was an atheist for a very long time. It wasn’t until around Easter this year I became a Christian and accepted the Jesus Christ as my God, my Lord, and my Savior. Before that took place, my heart opened to God as I began to entertain and attempt to understand the teachings of Christ. This happened to a greater degree after I became I Christian. I realized that so much of what I thought I knew about Christianity was built on lies, misinformation, and misunderstanding. As my eyes were opened to the truth, I was humbled by the ever increasing realization of how little I truly knew. After mulling over what Got had made me realize, there was another thing sitting on my heart. If I had been so mistaken about Christianity in general, how much more so have I been mistaken about Catholicism. I still love the Lord Jesus with all my heart and even now I’ve found more of it than I thought possible. However it was in learning about Catholicism that my faith in Jesus has grown. Now I’m going through RCIA and will become a Catholic this coming Easter. I plead for any of you who have read this if you think you know anything about the Christianity, Protestant or Catholic, please examine it more faithfully and humbly. Most importantly don’t go off of what someone else tells you that a group of people believe. May God lead us into all truth and through that to him for all eternity.

My Mormon neighbors came to me decades ago using much of the same church lingo I’d become familiar with growing up with Christian grandparents. Because I was living in a predominantly Mormon region, most of the people I knew were affiliated with that religion. It would’ve been easier for me to go-along to get-along. But I took the time to research (before the days of internet) the history and doctrines Mormonism was founded on. To my surprise, even most of my Mormon friends were ignorant of many of these things. They simply followed a lot of "rules," (or tried to when other Mormons were around) handed down by their bishops and family members. They were driven by tradition. I didn’t want to join the club and was summarily ostracized. Tradition also plays a big role in the RCC. I pray you will become a student of the scriptures and allow God’s word to direct your path. Might I suggest you at least listen to a comparative religion teacher? Mike Gendron breaks down RCC church history fairly thoroughly. He’s got some good messages on YT. Don’t let anyone talk you out of researching. That connection we get from belonging to a tribe can be rewarding. Just be certain you aren’t basing any decisions on feelings of belonging. They can be a hook in your jaw. I was surprised to learn this is even a big part of the drug culture! We all get the free will to choose, but in the end, we each give our own account. When God asks me why He should allow me into His heaven, my answer will be…ONLY by the blood of Jesus.

The first church of Christ traces its beginning to the day of Pentecost when Peter and the other apostles first preached the gospel as an accomplished fact. This is not a matter of church succession at all, for no group of people today can successfully trace their lineage back to that church. It is, however, very much a matter of church identity, and for that, one must go back to the Bible and the Bible alone. Unfortunately, the Roman Catholic Church does not do that. One must go back to a time before Roman Catholicism existed, before the Greek Orthodoxes existed, to a time when men were just Christians.

The early Church was not based solely on the Bible alone, but on the lived tradition of the apostles, which was passed down through the ages. The Church was founded on Christ and His apostles, and that unbroken lineage is preserved in the Orthodox Church. To deny this is to overlook the history of the Church, which was united under one faith and sacraments long before modern denominations appeared. The gospel is not just a matter of personal interpretation but a living, shared tradition that leads us to Christ.

I dont agree with the GUY in the video on a lot of things (he is annoying to me)... but the catholic church isnt the church (i dont even call it a church) established by Christ. Read Acts (which people generally dont dare to question what they believe, human nature) and you wont find catholicism there. The most plausible conclusion I came to understand is that SATAN set up catholicism... hard pill to swallow, but the data and intel is all in the bible (especially Acts and Romans). Billions are likely deceived. Nothing new under the sun. Deception is tricky and rampant.

@@sharoncrawford7192 So Jesus disciples and their successors got salvation and Jesus teachings wrong for 1500 years until a couple men came and along and got it right just 500 years ago?? That makes no sense. The word Catholic means Universal. We are universal christians because there was only ONE church that Jesus established for everyone. Not many different churches with different teachings. God only ever chooses one of everything. One holy couple (Adam and Eve). One holy family (Noah). One holy tribe (Abraham). One holy Nation (Moses). One holy kingdom (David). ONE Holy, Universal and Apostolic Church. Founded by Jesus.

EXCELLENT VIDEO TODD!!! This is an extremely disturbing trend and it's imperative that Christian parents teach their kids all about the Reformation and who Martin Luther was! Their eternal destiny depends on it. Anyone who "converts" from Christianity to Roman Catholicism was never born again (spiritually regenerated ) by God the Holy Spirit. If they were they would never abandon their Lord Jesus Christ and switch to a false religion based on lies and superstition! It's imperative ALL true Christians study their old King James Bible so they will not fall into false doctrine. The devil prowls 24/7 like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour! 1 Peter 5:8

Luther’s breakaway didn’t restore the true faith-it started a split from the one Church Christ founded. His rebellion led to individualism and error, not truth. The real Church preserves Christ's teachings through sacraments, Tradition, and authority, unbroken since the apostles. It's not enough to "just believe." True faith is found in the fullness of the Church, where salvation is worked out in the life of the faithful. The Reformation led people away from, not back to, the truth.

The Reformation might have sparked a push for scripture over tradition, but it also led to many distortions of the true faith. The Bible alone is not the full picture-God gave us the Church to safeguard the truth, not just individual interpretation. True freedom comes from embracing the fullness of faith in the Church that has preserved Christ’s teachings from the Apostles, not from dividing and redefining them. Truth is found in the unbroken Tradition, not just the Bible alone.

I strongly considered becoming Catholic. My wife was raised Catholic, and at the time I was an atheist brought back to my Bible by Dr. Jordan Peterson. I didn't really believe in God. I believed in religion, and I was looking for any church to join. After finding God, I was still courting Catholicism and started attending mass regularly because it more conveniently fit into my schedule. However, once the priest explained what the phrase "immaculate conception" really meant (as he explained it, Mary was born without sin and that's why Jesus didn't inherit original sin) I realized I couldn't continue to attend in good conscience. Only Jesus was without sin. Sorry. That's something I can't compromise on.

I recommend Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary for reading. Mary is the living Ark of the Covenant, as she held Jesus in her womb. It is not illogical that the vessel of Christ would be sinless. It's at least worth considering to understand why that is the Church's teaching.

I have a thought to lay before you, In testimony of the Transfiguration of Jesus recorded in the Bible in Matthew 17:1-13, Mark 9:2-8, and Luke 9:28-36. We see that though Christ was FULLY God and FULLY human, yet his glory was concealed and only revealed to those on the mount of transfiguration. Could it then be argued that Jesus could have been carried by Mary in the womb (and outside the womb), as well as walked among us close enough to touch as sinful humanity without killing us, because his glory was concealed? In the story of the Ark of the Covenant a man died because he touched it, if Mary was truly “the ark of the covenant” during her pregnancy, would others not also have died if they touched her? I understand the line of thinking (how could a sinful human carry the son of God), however, I’m concerned it’s negating the gospel, by saying that it is possible for a human to be born sinless, who is not the son of God. If that was the case, then why have Jesus die on the cross to save sinners? If they can just be born sinless. You are endangering the truth that every human born under Adam needs the Gospel. I’m sure the book might make some convincing arguments, but all good lies are woven with some truth. I encourage you to look through the Old Testament at all the sinful men and women God worked through to bring about his plan of redemption, David even pleading in Psalm “ don’t take your Holy Spirit from me” Mary would not be first nor the last sinner whom God worked through for the glory of his will and Devine purpose.

@@SpockvsEgon The early Christians venerated Mary. In the second century even. Sinless, yes Mary was, but only by the grace wrought on the Cross applied retroactively so that, just as God would only dwell in the Tabernacle after it was consecrated and made holy. Do you believe God in the flesh got his flesh from a sinful creature?!?!? No, she was raised to that dignity of being preserved from sin for the glory and honor of Jesus. Catholicism is big on the Bible so that’s where all the Catholic stuff comes from. Revelation 12, forget the verses but in Isaiah and Micah, etc. I have a general question though, why is there an insistence on Mary being a sinner? What a nasty desire to want to have the mother of Jesus a sinner. And then deny God His glory by saying what He did is not so.

In case you weren't aware, if you're Baptized Christian, regardless of the denomination, you're Baptized. The Catholic Church recognizes all documented Baptisms, regardless of who performed them. Also, most well formed Protestants, often convert to Catholicism, while poorly formed Catholics often covert to Protestantism. The word "Protestant" is used because those who started their own sect/church/denomination are PROTESTING against the one True, Holy, and Apostolic Church. The Catholic (Universal) Church.

JD explains that his absent father became an evangelical Christian, and while it impacted JD, a faithful aunt was Catholic. I think she was more present in his life and influenced him more. JD also saw a confused Protestantism in his grandparents who seemed to be believers but were abusive and vulgar mouthed in spite of other virtues. They never attended church and didn't seem to think they needed to. Perhaps JD saw more accountability in Catholicism with its emphasis on faith being shown by works. I think JD is a great young man, and we should pray for him and his family.

I was born and raised a nominal Roman Catholic. I got all the religious education I needed so that, when I actually heard (and believed) the Gospel of Grace (in 1981, when I was 19 yrs old), the "free gift" part was like the missing piece of the puzzle. ("You can only accept or decline a gift, you can neither earn nor buy it it.") I already believed all the other BIBLICAL stuff I learned in catechism class -- the virgin birth; the trinity; the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ on the third day, etc. After 6-7 yrs in the SBC, then another 8-9 yrs in Calvary Chapel, the Lord convinced us (through RC Sproul) of divine election, and we pretty much went Reformed. A year or two later (1999), we discovered the CREC (though we sure weren't looking!), and have been there ever since. I say all that to say all this: I'm still not a Roman Catholic. (Until someone convinces me otherwise by Scripture and reason.) And I can tell you why I'm not RC, all day long. (Their equating oral church tradition with Scripture.) But I DO know committed Catholics who claim -- and seem, by their fruits -- to have saving faith in Christ. And all I can say is, the Lord knows JD's heart for sure. As much as I decry Roman Catholic doctrine as unbiblical, I wouldn't presume to say that a Catholic can't be saved and remain Catholic. I think that a saved Catholic should repudiate and leave the RC church ... but that's ultimately between them and their Maker. When James White and Doug Wilson debated "Are Roman Catholics Our Brothers and Sisters in Christ?" (see Alpha and Omega's YT channel), I came away agreeing with Wilson (who took the affirmative), because of the objectivity of the covenant. Jm2c.
