I'm pretty sure the reason Garp wanted Ace and Luffy to be strong marines so badly was because this way even if someone found out that their dad's were Roger and Dragon theyd most likely be spared for their achievements in the navy

@@Pand444maybe or maybe they will still find devil fruits even of it's not the same they had cause they would have a diffrent journey , besides luffy will have the rubber fruit maybe if garp could have convinced him to become a marine after he had met shanks , plus you can be strong without devil fruits , further more garp will likely trains them to use six power like coby and teach them really to be strong fighters (i don't want to go in detail cause maybe it would considerd spoilers) Either way luffy and ace have conqures haki (it is mentioned already so it isn't spoiler) so they both can be still powerful without devil fruit and there are strong charactars without devil fruits

Since you guys now have seen Sengokus ability. We can give you the name because its not directly stated unless you look it up. Sengokus DF is the Mythical Zoan Human Human Model: Buddha And you are right about it being the same type DF like Marcos, both are considered Mythicals. And there are a few tiers of Zoans. Mythicals (Sengoku, Marco) Ancients (X. Drake) Normal (Chopper) Hope that helps.

Before that point in the manga someone asked Oda what would happen if a human ate the human human fruit (chopper's), and he just replied that the person would become "enlightened" Later we got Sengoku's power. It's a mythical variant of the Human human fruit.

It's not just his position, its the fact that Garp is a famous hero, and a symbol of the marines. In normal situations, he does what he wants and doesn't care, but to refuse or rebel now in front of the whole world weakens the navy and undercuts the marines. He is essentially forced to be there as "Garp the Hero", a symbol.

One reality Garp sympathizers or apologists miss is that Garp literally abandoned babies with a bunch of criminals and then put this ungodly expectation of them to be righteous marines. He wasn't a parental figure at all apart from coming there to beat their ass in the name of training. A few snippets of moments of warmth doesn't take away from the fact that these kids (Ace, Luffy and One more guy) had to learn, grow and form their ideals based on the people who were actually actively present in their lives. Garp has no right to be complaining about how they chose the "wrong" path when even the correct path according to him, becoming a marine just means you join the private army of the world government that uses it to commit genocide, enforce slavery etc. Garp has no moral standing to be calling pirates evil while working for a completely corrupt organization when he could have actually driven a change with his influence. Instead he jokes around and throws insult while doing nothing that brings actual change.
