Dyson Sphere Program is a sci-fi simulation game with space, adventure, exploration and factory automation elements where you can build your own galactic industrial empire from scratch.
In the distant future, the power of science and technology has ushered a new age to the human race. Space and time have become irrelevant thanks to virtual reality. A new kind of supercomputer has been developed - a machine whose superior artificial intelligence and computing capability will push humanity even further. There is only one problem: there isn’t enough energy in the whole planet to feed this machine.
You are a space engineer in charge of a project launched by the space alliance COSMO, tasked with a massive undertaking: constructing Dyson Spheres (a megastructure that would orbit around a star, harnessing all its power and energy) to produce the energy that humanity needs. Only a few decades ago, Dyson Spheres were considered a hypothetical, impossible invention - but now it’s in your hands… Will you be able to turn a backwater space workshop into a galaxy-wide industrial production empire?
Neutron stars, white dwarfs, red giants, gaseous and rocky planets… There is a big and varied universe out there, waiting for you to gather all its resources.
Every playthrough will be unique: your universe will be procedurally generated every time you start a new game. There will be different types and distribution of stars, planets and resources. Will you manage to thrive and build your Spheres, no matter what the universe throws at you?

Well, it's definitely more convenient. But to be fair, it's not just about density compression of "ore to plates". If you're transporting raw ores interstellar, then you spend twice as much warpers anyway -- because you first bring ore to the smelter and then you transport plates to the destination. When in case of in-site smelting you're delivering plates directly to destination. If the price of convenience of twice as many wapers (also twice as much energy, ~twice as much time, and so on) is good for you, then it's all good, anyway. Because it really **is** convenient.
@Frstarcraft
@Frstarcraft 3 жыл бұрын
I really like the way you put your arguments around logistics. For me, i really don't like wasting warp core at all. In my own set up, i'm using them only to bring back ressources from 30 light years systems, i change unipolar to particle container on site then bring them back. Quantum chip and graviton lens are really expensive when you think about it, you need them for so many late game stuff, i'd rather put them on my dyson sphere factory and increase my white cube production. But you definitly on something about that "smelter planet". Since the logistics update i haven't try new "small" set up like that, great contents as always !

Awesome episode. Reminds me of my playstyle :P Great minds think alike ^^ Actually (to compare), I made a 4-layer lasagna from 2 different interstellar stations (to circumvent the "10-vessel-limit"), just to feed 12 assemblers hydrogen to create Casimir crystals! Distance to the gas-giant was the main issue (like you forcasted). End-solution was, process some hydrogen at that gas-giant, and add dozens of orbital collectors at a more local gas-giant for use at my homeplanet.

The main thing reason why I would or wouldn't smelt on site is how many things are made from the raw resource. I've added 6 conveyor rings around the equator. I was smelting copper and coal where I was mining them.... And also processing oil... Stone and iron ore were being sent to the ring as is so I could smelt them on site where I was using them.... Not sure if this is the best idea..... I've only got 145 hours in the game and I'm struggling to make enough processors and really everything after red science.... I'm taking a break because my wrist was hurting really bad the other day... The last irritation of my ring setup is just raw materials going to a smelter area that's making all the stuff I can smelt on that planet. I've never left the first star at this point.

I don't really like the lasagna method due to the confusion that it gives me. Rather my setup has belts be sandwiched between the smelters so that one is for the input and the other is for the output. The copyinserters mod is really helpful in this case as the setup is already compressed and doesn't really require a long line that would go over the building range.

Their one more bottleneck which is the number of ships... So depending on how much titanium ore you are mining... If it in more 15 seperated locations (planets) you may want a second station to add 10 more ships.. You can also just link warp cores from one station to another with a belt if they are really close
@JDPlays

feeding one station into the next is the best way to keep the ore flowing, i recently feed 3 stations together to get the thruput i needed mainly because of low tech
@jonathanfair6001

You talked about limits and 10 ships being 10,000 at max research. I'm at 800 per ship currently (should be 1,000 soon) but was def running into limits at 120/s where the station couldn't quite keep up. You showed 270/s, which feels like it might blow the station out pretty easily. As that is 16k resources a minute, and a vessel is likely to take about ~1 minute round trip to get there and back. So any testing on what a "reasonable" limit would be to a single station? I get the idea of adding a second station, which you recommend if you are hitting the limits, but just wanted to try and get some rough ideas on how much output a single station could handle with its 10 ships. Seems to me, rough assumptions, 10k resources, at 1 minute travel time average, would put you at a cap around 166/s. Is that 1 minute assumption reasonable?
@jetah50
@jetah50 3 жыл бұрын
dont forget there's an infinite research for drone travel speed which will hasten the non-warp travel times.
@JDPlays
@JDPlays 3 жыл бұрын
so infinite tech makes the larger vessels go faster as well as the smaller drones. so dont have enough resources? add a 2nd tower, feed it into the first with belts. Still not fast enough have drones also make the small short hop carrying 100 each, still not fast enough add a second tower with/without more belts and add more small drones. The only limit to the system is 12 output belts at 30 items per second between vessels and drones there is no limit to how much one of these can import!
