I set my stop loss a bit smaller than my take profits,then I wait for prices to create a fair valid gap before targeting other liquidity. But in the end I keep getting unfavorable trading outcomes. Really sucks!

you can always move your stop loss when your position reaches 50 % of the profit and then you pull out the 50 % profit. If that doesn’t work out,then you can seek the guidance of a trading expert so you’ll have proper understanding on how to set your stop loss and when to take profits.

Starting using ATRs for SL placement for one of my strategies. Works pretty well as you can also identify failed trades before it hits SL. Decreasing the amount of losing trades which hit full loss.
