This is the second time this year that Jean Chretien has come out of retirement to voice his opinion about a controversial issue. I wonder if Mr Chretien is wise to place himself back in the media spotlight and whether, at the ripe old age of 89, he is prepared to reap the whirlwind, should his past catch up with him. Given the proclivity in recent years, of First Nations to vent their spleen at prominent European Canadians of the past (Egerton Ryerson, for instance) not everyone in Canada's indigenous population has forgotten Jean Chretien's support of the Liberal Party's assimilation policies and his direct involvement (as Minister of Indian Affairs from July 6, 1968 to August 7, 1974) in the residential school system and the 60's Scoop.

Trudeau is the only candidate that has reinforces himself by brining another big name to speak on his behalf

+hanibal43 It's a little bit easier to do that when the NDP hasn't had a Federal Government yet. Since there hasn't been an NDP Federal Government, the name recognition is hard to match. Having Ed Broadbent endorsing Tom Mulcair isn't really effective for a lot of people (other than NDP supporters), and I'm not using it as a way of judging Mr. Broadbent but rather just stating the obvious. And I'm not quite sure what context you meant that in, but I would argue that needing to have someone else constantly speak on your behalf isn't really a good thing. Justin Trudeau has had Paul Martin, Jean Chrétien, and I believe even Stéphane Dion (in the crowd at one of his events) as a means of supporting him. Then of course he gets a little boost from having the name "Trudeau". Tom has had Stephen Lewis and that's about it, other than having other MPs at his events (from other ridings, of course). But coming from someone who went to a Thomas Mulcair rally, it was literally only a short opening speech from the local MP candidate and another MP and Tom took over after that. He doesn't rely on the endorsements of others.

On huh, some one is getting nervous. He knows he's on his way out and is grasping at old washed out pms of the past. Just proves he will do anything, say anything to play at being pm. Lol
