I totally agree about the bottle being un objet d’art. I would like to get this as a collector item just for the beauty and femininity of the bottle, even if all my perfumes are to be worn and not just for collection.

It is! It didn’t look as dark in the pictures. My previous bottle was pretty dark but not quite as dark. I must add that neither bottle has gone off or lost any top notes. Good quality fragrances age like fine wine.🙂

Fantastic review of this beauty. The near empty bottle sitting next to the nearly full bottle looks stunning. 😍 I was gifted this when I graduated high school and started cosmetology school in 1994. I moved into my first apartment with a this and it conjures up many, many fond memories. I would love to smell it again and I’m glad to hear you approve of the current formulation. My SOTD is Style by Jill Sanders.

Oh and I forgot to say, I could bite me for stupidity because last year in the winter I went on a weekend break to a town in the north of the country near the beach and I found a place that sold jewelry and was a perfumery before and still had perfumes. They had the discontinued Classique the Essence for not so expensive and I didn't get it... regreted so much. It was so beautiful. It will be a lucky if I could find it again. If a bottle cross my way again I will grab it! Big hug

That’s so interesting! If I recall correctly, I think I tried that one years ago. It reminded me of Alien. It was in the La Belle bottle, but called Classique Essence.🙂

Back in the 90's I wore YSL's Champagne, Prescriptive's Calyx, Chanel's Cristalle, and Givenchy's Amarige (I still have backup bottles for each and everyone of them). Somehow I did not gravitate toward this one, but I know I would love it now. Will be looking for a vintage one on eBay. Thanks Luke!

Hello my darling Luke. Thank you so much for your videos. They are so well prepared and tought. Classique is so underrated nowadays. It's in my opinion the most glorious ambery, vanillic orange blossom perfume. I remember perfectly when it came out, it was absolutely groundbreaking! The bottle was inspired by Gaultier's friend Madonna who at the time was in her peak of fame. The scent is so opulent, theatrical, so bewitching. It resembles in the profile Loulou from Cacharel. Not that they are similar, not even close, but the magic of a fantasy, a pretend, a play at the stage. I find the purpose similar, not the scents. Currently I don't have it in my collection but might get it. In fact you mentioned Safanad and I've been curious to try it because it resembles Classique. My husband wears also since the begining Le Male and I adore it on him. He's finishing his bottle. I might get the 2 😊 My scent of the day for work was a dupe of Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford then when I arrived home after a shower I put Diamonds and Emeralds by Elizabeth Taylor. A big kiss my dear

Dear Ana, your comments always make me happy!🧡 You’re exactly right, Gaultier designed so many of Madonna’s iconic costumes that she wore while performing on stage. I won’t say anything else about Madonna!😂 I agree with the comparison to Lou Lou. Both are “theatrical” and artificial, Lou Lou even plasticky. Safanad bears a close resemblance to Classique in my opinion; it’s easy to like. Soleil Blanc is gorgeous! I also own a dupe oil. It’s quite enough for me. Enjoy your evening!🧡

Scent of the day is vintage Boucheron :) the same that was singer Selenas favorite. I am just finding out about classique collection I jjst ordered a rare one and a tiny regular vintage one next I wanna get this EDT and a large original bottle and the pinup version also. I know I'm going to love them ! Dita von teese does and she has amazing taste in perfume.

Hi Luke!😊 My first scent of the day was Kayali Eden Juicy Apple. When it’s done living its life, I’ll spray Classique. I have a decant of the newest formulation. I love it! I find it very cozy and comforting. I’m sure that wasn’t the original intention of the fragrance, but that’s what it is to me. I agree with your sentiments on the Eilish and KKW bottles. They are tacky in comparison to JPG bottles. Thank you for another great video. You never, ever disappoint. 💛💛💛

A signature for me through much of the early 2000's. I am sad to say the newest formulation is a watered down mess with no depth (to my nose anyway), so vintage bottles are to be treasured. I recently purchased Sultan Or, a nice cheapie, which smells like a mix of vintage Classique and Lancome's Poeme.

Hi there! If I had been old enough back then, this would probably have been my signature scent too. I tested it in-store, and it wasn’t watered down, but I suspect it was an old tester. I must repurchase Poême soon. Thanks for watching!
