I notice this block (7) is the same as Block 13 from your 2018 block party. So i decided to make my star counter clockwise to change up the star.. Hi Jean Care to share the recipe for that beef strogonoff??? That's another comfort food and it's so darned cold up here, we NEED it. Thanks so much for these block tutorials. Everything stops and I do the squares tomorrow LOL I thought you'd be resting for a couple of weeks after finishing Cheryl, but you're so full of energy, I'm not surprised.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
Sure! I can't really give specific amounts just the ingredients, because I always, literally, cooked for dozens of people:) So here goes! In a big pan... Ground Meat, browned and drained. Lots of onions and garlic. Salt. Pepper. Can(s) of cream of chicken soup. Can(s) of cream of mushroom soup. Can(s) of niblet corn. Tub(s) of sour cream (lots). add Parsley. Toss in cooked egg noodles. (Even though that is sort of all cooked, I still put it into a casserole pan and top with coarse bread crumbs dotted with a bit of butter and cook for about 20 minutes in hot oven.) This stuff is delicious left over!!!:)

@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory Thanks so much, Jean. That quantity should see me through many a chilly night. I used to make something like this for my aging mother in law, except with Golden Mushroom Soup. She'd eat that but would't eat regular mushroom soup. Go figure. I'll guestimate the quantities. Mostly I cook for just me, but even then it ends up to be a big soup pot full. So I usually share. Heck, I could feed YOUR family!! LOLOL Oh well, it all freezes well, I guess I'd better go. Somehow I seem to have quilting homework and am falling behind. 😜😉😜 Have a great day and well chat later!

Lois Hodd Me too!!! I've never done a block of the month quilt. But to have two on the go at the same time is not daunting at all!! And if there's anyone to have fun with it's Jean Truelove!!!! Hi Jean. Thank you so much for the tutorials. I am working on block 6 and my HSTs come out wonky despite cutting exactly and trying to keep to one quarter seam allowance. Any helpful hints? Just finished bloc 6. The points do not align with the others. When I square up the block I am off by 1/4 inch. Yikes!
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory5 жыл бұрын
Oh dear. Perhaps pin, pin, pin?!?! You REALLY have to have all the seams at 1/4" or the point will not match...but don't sweat it! If you like your block, even with mismatched points, then KEEP IT! Your next block will be that little bit better! :)

Do you have to stir your stroganoff as it softens the meat? I have food intolerances so I try tweaking. I worked out if I scorch the flour for thickening first, get it light golden brown, then take it out of the pot and clean the pot. I can keep some tomato juice from the cans to make a paste after it cools. Let it sit and any lumps soften. Meanwhile I cook the meat in the rest of the tomatoes and some water, and as there is no flour in the pot, I can simmer it for 2 hours without any sticking or stirring. The flavour comes from the flour, which I thin a bit with water, then still on the heat add it with one hand as I stir with the other, it thickens straight away and then I turn off the heat. Ignore this if it doesn't work for you, I just am not so good at remembering to stir things. All the best.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory3 жыл бұрын
I wish I could leave it...my stove tops (electric/ceramic) heat very quickly and high (I have yet to get a super correct temperature so I wing it) so I DO stir my stroganoff as it is cooking. Perhaps If I dumped it all in a crock pot/slow cooker it would be better!
@kathleenmayhorne31833 жыл бұрын
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory I am from a family of 8 kids, do they make one big enough? Would it be the same? My sister used to prepare tomorrow night's dinner the night before, put it in the fridge, then put it in the crock pot in the morning, so dinner was done when they all got home. Our mum used the black ceramatop stove we have for boiling fruit to make jams and chutneys, and managed to burn out the "temperature controls," on a few of the hot plates. We had to get an electrician to replace them so they wouldn't burn everything. I hope you can find a way to make yours work better for you. All the best.
