I'm a huge Jean Simmons fan and have seen all these films including a couple not on this list. I have a soft spot for A Bullet is Waiting and quite enjoyed Hilda Crane. I can't believe she wasn't nominated for an Oscar for Elmer Gantry. And if anyone else says she looks like Liz Taylor I'll scream. Jean Simmons was special and had an individual beauty that belonged only to her. A truly great and sensitive actress.

Jean Simmon's best movie is "Guys and Dolls." She's the lead in that film, unlike the supporting roles in some movies that you scored better. No other female star could have done what she does in that movie - drama, comedy, romance, grief over a breakup, songs, dances, drinking, and a bar fight. Even the various stage performers of her Sgt. Sarah Brown could not match her joyous version of "If I Were A Bell." It's a film I watch over and over because she and Marlon Brando just sparkle in that perfect American folk fable.

Jean Simmons' best is "Guys and Dolls." In it, she does drama, romance, comedy, songs, dances, and a bar fight. She outshines her co-stars Brando and Sinatra. For her performance, she wins the Best Actress Golden Globe Award 1956.

I’ve just seen « Footsteps in the fog » this evening and I loved Jean Simmons in it and it is only rated 6.7 !!

Jean Simmons is a great dramatic actress and quite versatile, giving fine performances in comedies, Westerns, musicals, suspense films. It's hard to imagine that she received only two Oscar nominations: Best Supporting for "Hamlet" (1948) and Best Actress for "The Happy Ending" (1969). She deserved nominations for "Home Before Dark" (1958), "All the Way Home" (1963), and others. She should have taken home the gold in 1960 for her performance in "Elmer Gantry," the best of her career.

I have seen 14 of these movies. Only two of them are below 6.0. The Big Country is my favourite. She had a difficult time on Angel Face and couldn't bare watching it. Great posters and photographs.

Wow....I thought I would be many videos behind. You have been slacking...lol. #25 The Grass Is Greener...pretty average movie #12 The Robe...huge hit. I am not doing well at all...maybe the Top 10 will save me. #8 Guys and Dolls...a musical I liked. #7 Howl's Moving Castle...I liked it but do not remember her voice role at all. #6 Elmer Gantry...Burt's Oscar winning movie. #5 The Big Country....one of the best westerns #3 Black Narcissus....she is very lovely in that role. #1 Spartacus....classic epic....wow....that is a very low tally of 8...even only 60% of the Top 5. Good video...voted up. PS. I am the only one that gets Jean Simmons and Jennifer Jones mixed up?

Jean and Jennifer do look somewhat similar but I can tell them apart. Simmons did the voice of the older version of the young heroine in Howls Moving Castle, a highly rated anime. Lauren Bacall also voiced a character. Only 8 seen Bruce, I'm surprised at you. I've seen 12, which isn't very impressive either. Flora has seen 14. Maybe Bob or John have seen more but they don't do movie counts so we'll never know. Thanks again Bruce, always appreciated.

"Home Before Dark" is only ranked #22? It is considered by most film historians to be arguably her finest performance.

Hmmm the score for Home Before Dark is lower than it should have been, some of the ratings on my old videos were a bit brutal, a low rating from one of my sources would knock a movie down the chart. I've updated a bunch of videos since. If I were rating performances instead of movies my rankings will probably be a lot different. Thanks for posting!
