Since when is platting or twisting your hair a protective style? Protection from what? These natural hair videos are ridiculous.
@jeanettejbeauty63746 жыл бұрын
shannan0520 Perhaps, you should educate yourself on why this is a form of a protective style before making such a distasteful comment. The basic concept is to preserve “something valuable” I.e OUR HAIR - from damage and harm. Protective styling reduces ongoing manipulation of the hair, encourages growth and length retention and furthermore reduces knots and tangles. You should ALSO UNDERSTAND that a protective style doesn’t require much daily upkeep or constant manipulation. I am able to wear my hair like this for up to two weeks without restyling/ manipulating, encouraging my hair to flourish and REMAIN HEALTHY. These tutorials don’t only serve to help me but many other woman learning to care for their hair.
@shannan05206 жыл бұрын
So is putting your hair in a ponytail or bun considered a protective style??? Im asking because you can also wear a bun for 2, 3, 4 weeks and not touch it. Could've sworn a protective style was a covering. Hence the word protect which means to cover or shield. So again I ask how are plats and twist a protective style??? Your hair is still exposed to all things you mentioned so how is it being protected? Coming from a black woman who has natural hair...thats like saying my locs are a protective style. That is a lie. And guess what, I can wear my locs for years. As a matter of fact I started my locs with two strand twist. Im just trying to figure out how twist are a protective style. Are locs a protective style too??? Since I'm uneducated in this topic maybe you can educate me please.
@mrw04866 жыл бұрын
shannan0520 a protective style is anything that u ain't manipulating your hair so yes a bun in for 2 weeks is a protective style... leaving braids or twists in for a month then redoing them is a long term protective style 🤦
@mrw04866 жыл бұрын
shannan0520 maybe you should of asked questions first instead of coming off like u knew what u was talking about...then wanna act like u was looking for answers when somebody call u out🤪

Its a protective style because you are not manipulating your hair as much.

Don't be! Although, She did an awesome job in this video! It's not necessary to accomplish nice looking twists. I put my hair in twists all the time. Honestly, I just part wherever I part. She's way more methodical about it. However, you don't have to be. It still can come out nicely. I wear my hair and twists because it's consistent and convenient, plus retains a lot of growth. I'm too active and don't want to spend 50/11 hours on my hair day-to-day. I don't have the patience to part as demonstrated in this video.

Well, long hair IS a female thing. P. S. There are ladies who wear their hair short AND they learn how to take care of their hair from ladies, not men (I stand to be corrected). I have to do flatwists at the crown ..but I love to see that people actually wear twists out in public, some people look me up and down like my hair isnt "done" or "wearable" or cute enough to be in public. But honestly it's my hair, I'm not trying to impress noone. Also I don't understand people's need to judge others when their hair is damaged and has the nerve to talk about mine. I'm a white woman and I've had short hair my whole life, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can, until my child will be able to manage her own hair. Till then, here I am. Now I'm in the process of finding the right product and so far her hair react very well with Shea moisture. My problem is the frizz. She won't keep a cap on even if I pay her with chocolate 😂 and the next day the hairstyle won't be as nice. I hope I will get there sooner or later

Hi darling a satin pillow case is a good idea or is she would leave a bonnet overnight then that’s even better! I've seen videos where they add kinky hair to it for thickness. Make sure the hair is good quality so not to dry/cut your hair when added.

I learned so much! Thank you so much mama Jeanette!!💖👏🙌💎💙😩So coincidental that I have 2 strand twists in my hair RN and yesterday I had my sister install them. But she did not use A lot of product and she was ripping my hair out and I told her to do it on wet hair and my hair😭 was closer to dry more than damp. SHE WAS PULLING OUT MY HAIR!😭 My poor 4b kinky hair was being snagged my the rat tail😭 and wide tooth comb. I asked her to do it becuase it's difficult for me to twist my own hair in the back. I have a tapered cut. But when I saw the all the shed hair in the comb my heart sank. It was 3 almost 4 times😭 as much the amount of shedding on wash day. She was yanking at my scalp!😭 thank you do much for this!! I will make sure that I MYSELF will do my own twists! On Wet hair!! With a good amount of product and not rip my strands! I thought family was suppose to have your back nah sis not this time!👋😭 But Again Thank YOU for all your help, tips, and pointers!!💜💜💎💎💙💙💖💖🌟🌟✨✨😇😇☝☝👏👏🙌🙌

Yessss! Your hair looks beautiful! Thanks so much for this vid. I always have a hard time with the back of my hair and parting. I just need to take my time and part well and make sure I am twisting with equal amounts of hair. I don’t have a large amount of experience doing my hair (although I have been natural for 13 years and the main person doing it, but I didn’t grow up “doing” my hair in all types of braids and what not so I feel amateur in this...if that makes sense). ALSO, I can not agree with you more about the rat tail comb! I also have type 4 hair (mixture between A and B) and it works WONDERS in making sure the hair looks nice and has the curl at the end. If the hair is not well detangled, it will not look as good. I feel like twisting my hair now, haha!!

First time I’ve watched this type of twist method. Will try for the first time. My hair textu totally change in the space of a year due to menopause so now I’m hoping I’ll be able to wear such styles for at least a week. Thanks for the details !
@Biklar6 жыл бұрын
How does the hair in these twists hold up for the week with a regular gym schedule (lots of sweating)? I go to the gym anywhere between 3-5 times weekly. Also, I feel this style works more beautifully with very thick hair like yours. You have a gorgeous volume of hair. My hair is thinner, unfortunately. The twists are smaller when I do them.
