My favorite Native American authors are Tommy Orange, Rebecca Roanhorse, Stephen Graham Jones, and Terese Mailhot, Enrique Salmon & Robin Kimererer for nonfiction. And the big debut author this year is David Weiden with Winter Counts- I can’t wait for that one!

I will never get sick of you talking about The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place 😍. It is the most wonderful middle grade series I’ve ever read! ❤️ Small Spaces is a great way to start the spooky season. I picked up Taaqtumi recently and am looking forward to starting it. Happy reading.

I really enjoyed The Luminous Dead when I read it. There's definitely aspects that I think fall under the 'horror category, but for me it was more unsettling than anything with less 'horror' in it than I think most expect (certainly less than I expected) but it's so atmospheric and chilling that I didn't really mind. Definitely messes with your mind though! I hope you enjoy it when you get to it!

I recently read 'Lakota Woman' by Mary Brave Bird, a memoir of a Sioux Indian woman that was so insighful and really worth a read if you're interested in learning more about Indian culture in relatively recent America. She grew up on a reservation, was taken from her family by the American government and put into a Catholic boarding school. Later in life she becomes an American Indian Movement (AIM) activist and takes part in the seige at Wounded Knee. The book discusses the resurgance of Indian rituals in America, her roles as a woman, wife and mother and what this means in her culture (amongst many other things). I loved her voice and learned a lot from it. Would really reccommend it.

This video is just what I need 😍 If possible, could you please make a video about ur favourite historical (or contemporary or fantasy) romance books/authors. I read Radiance after hearing u talk about it and absolutely loved it! And Im looking forward to reading Tessa Dare and Susanna Craig soon. I trust ur recs (especially after some appalling romances Ive read recently 😑) so more would be lovely 😄

I preordered When No One Is Watching, in part to support Alyssa Cole because she was my gateway author into modern romance novels, and the online Date Night event's she's been hosting all quarantine (set up [or sponsored by?] by a bkstore called Loyalty Books, I think, theyre basically live hangouts with different romance authors each time) have been one such life-giving mood-boosters. I'm kind of a horror wimp, though, so we'll see how it goes..... I may have to read it on a day when I can try to finish the whole thing in one go!

In southern Ontario it has already started getting cooler and we are getting fall weather so I am calling it fall now. The New Jim Crow is good, but I had to put it down about half way through because it was really heavy and I wasn't in a good place. I am going to pick it up again soon though. It was interesting and disturbing.

i am so excited to read elatsoe! also the luminous dead sounds really interesting,i love scifi and want to get more into horror. i look forward to hearing your thoughts about it! also in regard to incarceration in the uk there is the book prison: a survival guide, and i would recommend looking into to cape (campaign against prison expansion) which has a lot of good resources and is a good way of finding zines and other texts about the uk prison system! there is also the ongoing protest against the yarls wood detention centre which i would recommend looking into because it is just horrifying.

I've recommended the Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place to my mum based on your recommendation. She's been sheltering so is reading a lot of middlegrade and lighter books so thanks for talking about it so highly. I am also trying to read more by indigenous authors. I'm currently reading Potiki by Patricia Grace who is of indigenous New Zealand decent and it's good so far. I'm not far through but I've also never heard anyone talk about it.

Hello from Montreal! I plan on reading A winter's promise and The daughter of the forest during the readathon 🤗 Currently reading Robin Hood by Dumas and will also read Solito solita which talks about the experience of teenage migrants. Oh, and I also plan to read Oryx and crake. I will definitely read other books, but this is what's currently on my tbr for autumn 2020. I don't like thrillers and horror books, so I generally like to take comfort in SFF series. I'll probably add one on that tbr. The hitchhiker's guide, perhaps? Never read the sequels. Have a good day 😃
