Hurrah for a bookshelf tour! I LOVE watching these and haven't seen any new ones for a long time so this was a complete treat. It must have taken you SO LONG to edit and pull this together, so bravo Jean! All those Terry Pratchett books lined up next to each other just reminded me of seeing them in libraries at school! Nostalgia! xxx

I am absolutely drooling over your bookshelves! And I have to say, UK editions of books are generally so much lovelier than the US versions. If I ever make it across the pond, I'm going to be in trouble because I'm going to want to buy all the books!

I absolutely love your bookshelves. Most shelf tours I've seen are 100% new books (even their classics are reprints) so I love seeing that you collect penguin classics, etc. :)

I started ordering my Russian classics in the Oxford World Classics , first because of the translator, then because the paper feels good to the touch, the font is easy on my tired eyes, and the books lay open as easy as a leather Bible. I’m envious of all of your titles. I’m reading the Greek philosophers and plays, and reading my way through Russian literature.
@matchasketch8224
@matchasketch8224 4 жыл бұрын
Yoby Henthorn Hey! I’m also getting into Russian Literature. I read Anna Karenina and Crime and Punishment, and some short stories by Tolstoy. What are you reading and what do you enjoy so far? I’ve previously just bought second-hand and whatever edition books I could get a hold of, but I’m recently thinking of keeping a neater, new collection of paperbacks. I have a few oxford world classics, and vintage classics. Do you have any preferred paperbacks? I think the penguin english library looks gorgeous but where I’m from (Canada), I can’t really buy a very complete collection from them.

I love bookshelf tours. Did you ever read Point Horror and Point Crime as a teenager? Sir Arthur is an icon to me, do you watch the US show Elementary, with Johny Lee Miller? I love the show :) I had the Hobbit read to us by my Primary 7 teacher. I did Murder on the Orient Express and A Study of Scarlet (I think), for either Standard Grade or Higher. I have a lot of chemistry books on my shelf.

I bloody love having s nosey at people's bookshelves when I got round there houses so this was a delight. Reynold the Fox and Faery Tales were instant wants within mere minutes. I like how you stack your books. How long did this take you to film and edit? You trouper.

Wait -- Polaroid cameras still exist?! :-O This is a wonderful video. The last bookshelf tour you did a few years ago it still one of my favorite of your videos. A lot of beautiful covers and titles here. Have you read Gore Vidal's "Creation"? I think he's a good novelist although his characters so often tend to sound just like Gore Vidal.

I'm in love with your Greek and Latin collection! I studied Latin in high School and uni and I am currently revisiting Lucretius' De Rerum Natura and falling in love with it all over again. The only downside is that it's not an easy read, since I find myself skipping the Italian translation and translating the book by myself... oh well, poor me. PS: it's weird for me to see Boccaccio's Decameron on your shelf. Very few non Italian readers own it!

There are so many different genres it depends on what your are looking for. I have a video on The Ancient Greek Novel (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqrMgHyNo8qsjqs), Anicnet Poetry (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIS4ZJSQgLGCmZI) and Greek & Roman Myths (kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZeXgaabltJko7s) which might provide a place to start. Some of my favourites include Daphnis & Chloe, The Satyricon, Ovid's Love Poems, Sappho's poetry, Aristophanes' Lysistrata and the plays of Euripides.

These are books I've been collecting since I was a teenager so more than a decade. Some of which I had to buy for uni; many of which I bought second hand. A large number of the more recent ones I was sent for free by publishers since I started booktube and I get books every Christmas and Birthday. Occasionally I'll buy myself a full price book as well :). I don't spend huge amounts on books every year though, there are bargains out there in second hand shops, charity shops, online, 2 for 1 in bookshops and at library sales.
