When my father passed away I saved several pairs of his jeans. I haven’t made anything with them, yet. Maybe now it’s time to make a blanket. I love the thought of a nice warm throw made with his jeans.

I’m not a sewer, so for me the best part was watching your cats. Cats are funny. I remember reading that Hemingway who had many cats found it difficult to get any writing done when they were around because they would lay across his typewriter or chew on the end of his pencil to get his attention.

Mary I love these ideas. My husband passed away a few years ago and I still have some of his jeans. I'm going to try to sew some of these things for my children so they have something to remember their dad.❤

That would be so special for your children. Such a great way to honor his memory.

That's a wonderful idea. I still have some of my late husband's jeans. I'm going to 'attempt' to make these items. And then with the rest of his jeans, make some items for our children, and grandchildren. It will be hard for me to make the first cut, but once it's made, I'll be able to go through with it. I'm sorry for your loss. 🙏🙏🙏

After watching your video I called my mom immediately to find out if she still had my dad’s old jeans (he passed away 11 years ago). I’ve been meaning to purchase a sewing machine as learning to sew is on my bucket list and you have inspired me to do so even more!
@pepersch85093 жыл бұрын
You will love that. A little hint. Especially if you are new to sewing. Demin is heavy fabric. I have better luck with the fabric feeding through the machine if I lengthen my stitch and use a little bigger (diameter) needle. You will love having the keepsakes.
@elenak96803 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same, but with a different keepsake. We were gifted with our miracle son after 12 years of marriage and virtually giving up. I had always wanted more children and had an extremely difficult time parting with my son’s clothing. He is now going to turn 20 soon, and a bin or two of his clothing are holding memories in them. I love the feel of a heavier blanket. Instead of buying an expensive weighted blanket, I’m inspired to make one. Hopefully, I save a few of his little jeans to incorporate into the blanket. As for the bag...I could add little pockets of his very old jeans to the bag. If I put one on the outside of the bag, it would be an open reminder of the blessings we enjoyed when he wore those little pants. Lastly, the apron. I’ve wanted to make one out of jean fabric for quite some time because of its durability. Now I’m so eager to make one and include some memorable fabric to enjoy some times from the past. I don’t think I’ll let him get rid of a single pair of jeans! Or clothing for that matter!!!! 😂

What a nice gift…the Bernini sewing machine given to you! Bernini was the brand one of my sister in laws, who is a professional seamstress preferred. I’m so impressed! Such a good use of the materials and I’ve been in the sewing mood lately too. This year I have converted beach towels into sun chair covers with straps that keep them from flying away in the wind, a hamper liner bag using the one that came with it as the inner liner for our families coming new arrival, used old kitchen towels to make cozy but washable crate liners for our puppies... and extended the width of our king quilt for the look I like instead of what the manufacturers wanted to provide us. So I bought two and used the extra material to make outdoor recliner chair covers.

Love how you left the raw edges to fray on your blanket! I'm making a quilt for bachelor adult son for Christmas. One side is cotton Dollar Tree bandanas in red, white and blue, washed a couple of times before sewing (shrinkage). He has a great kitty, but the hair! So, to make life easier (hair doesn't stick so much to denim), I'm doing the opposite side with denim squares! Sewed two flannel sheets together, crisscrossing seams everywhere, for my batting! Will message you a pic when finished! Great video! 🥰

So cute! What size needle did you use? Did you use a thicker thread? And the same thread in your bobbin? I have a little stash of denim but my sewing machine tends to act up if I don’t have just the right thread and needle and some parts looked really thick to sew through. Anyway, your projects turned out darling!

Great projects. This is my total thing. Bags from jeans. Aprons from mens shirts including denim. I never sold before retiring to this small high desert town but so many wanted my bags they saw me using. Especially small messenger bags as in this rural hiking town women dont really carry "purses". I only sell at my local tiny farmers market and dont charge much as the town has given me tons of sewing supplies and jeans. Dont say that out loud or you will get more than you need. Pants are hard because of the shapes. Teen girls bling jeans are easier to make two small messenger bags per jeans. I do cut out the zipper and add a side gusset to each if jeans are small. Adult women jeans are hippy at side seams so I often turn them sideways and round the bottom corners. I have increased my bag skills from many youtubers. My favorite person is Easy To Sew. she shows all measurements and details free.

Thanks for another great video. It’s so nice to see someone sewing, I get really sick of seeing KZbinrs hot gluing fabric. I have recycled so many jeans into purses and bags, I used to sell them.
