When I had this cutscene Luke killed Desann by lopping his head off and they just stood there, it was amazing!

When I played this, I had the dismemberment code on, resulting in Desann lopping off Luke's saber hand. For the rest of the fight, Luke battled his opponent with the aid of nothing more than a crispy stump!

Even without the realistic combat cheat, I've seen both Luke and Desann win this fight, killing the other outright a second or two in, thanks to the game engine being used for the cutscene. After that the victor just stands there, somewhat forlornly, and Kyle reacts to... nothing much. Don't think it's considered "canon", though! ;-) I've also seen one or the other Force Push their opponent off the platform, killing them instantly from fall damage. Evidently the "counter-push" technique isn't 100% reliable... "You dare push meAAAAAAAAHHHHH" The Force works in mysterious ways.

I love watching different LPs of this scene and seeing all the different goofy wonky animations in the duel between Luke and Desann. Saw one where Desann repeatedly bounce up and down on top of Luke while he struggled to stand up lmaooo

lmozep I literally watch old videos of Jedi outcast and just think to myself , episodes 7,8,9 should of been the story of Kyle katarn . It would of made so much sense .... with a slightly older Luke of course .

I love how Luke's yellow DFA completely missed whereas Desann's red DFA absolutely shredded Luke

I like the implication that Desann couldn't beat Luke in a lightsaber fight so he had to run.

Desann's lightning is stronger than Sidious' and Dooku's pretty sure he just used the force as a weapon and thought he killed Luke when he brought the roof down on him - plus Luke was unable to resist his force powers so Desann is stronger. if Desann did run it was because he could not handle Luke and Kyle combined - Kyle is even stronger than Luke. Their lightsaber skills are about the same but when you look at Kyle's force powers it is a no contest

There's no way Luke would lose to Desann. Luke is a Jedi Master at this point and a master of Niman and Djem So.

Desann didn't beat Luke. He held his own for a time, then pushed him back and buried him under some rubble to escape.

@@loyalcompanion2104 Luke had warned Kyle when both of them first arrived on the Cairn Installation not to take on Desann alone because now that he passed through the Valley of the Jedi he would be stronger than any of them realized.

I dunno man, if you played the games, fighting Desann is a bish... The bastard loves to force choke, force throw, and force lightning you all at the same time. >:(... All the while constantly pulling and pushing you, it is annoying as hell xD... Regarding the force abilities he displays, he is FAR more powerful than Luke in Return of the Jedi xD... Also, as it is said by many, the dark side is quicker. I think the idea is Desann developed quickly, but as with all dark side users, he lacks the discipline to temper his attitude. This can give way to impulsive behavior that leads to his downfall. By the time Kyle defeats Desann, I suspect he is actually more powerful than Luke. He does eventually become the Jedi Battlemaster, which is a significant title. Many also suggest that Kyle might be the greatest Jedi Battlemaster the order has ever seen due to his incredible versatility (Using force choke, lightning, absorb, heal, etc.). Being the head of the council doesn't necessarily mean you are the most powerful; after all, Yoda was *NOT* the most powerful Jedi in the prequels; he was merely the most powerful in precisely force abilities, whereas Windu was the best duelist. This is shown by Windu's ability to disarm and almost kill Sidious, a feat Yoda failed to accomplish. From my understanding, Jedi Consolers are typically the Grandmasters of the Jedi Order, which Kyle is not. Kyle is certainly closer to a Jedi Guardian, or perhaps a mixture of Guardian and Sentinel. Whereas both Yoda and Luke are Consolers and thus better suited to that role. At the end of the day, I think Luke and Kyle complement each other very well, and by the height of their power, Luke is undoubtedly the more powerful of the two. However, by the events of Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, I give the edge to Kyle. x) I believe Luke focused more on leading and training students by this point of the timeline and, by consequence, has less time to train his abilities than Kyle.
