Yeah, it humbles you when smaller people handle you . It humbles you even more when the big ones handle you with skill.

Same situation here, humbling experience. Only shows how much you have to learn and all the weak areas you have the opportunity to improve on to supplement your lifting.
@johnnycage27463 жыл бұрын
@@lphieshake I stopped lifting after I started training jiujitsu. down to 3 days a week. Would rather train 6 days a week. I found the grind of numbers and PRs to be pointless and absolutely boring

It’s funny cause a lot of this looks like breakdancing as does capoeira and these warmup drills. Historically, this all checks out lol.

@@traceygresham6845 Indeed! I just got serious into BJJ, but I have 20 years in Capoeira and I’m the rank of Professor. These movements feel very natural to me as well. The technical stand up is basically one of the many variations of “negativa” in Capoeira, so it came very easily.

I love the tips you provide as well as other mental aspects of learning this beautiful art. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I love your humility, sense of humor and technicality. I have let go of my ego and enjoy learning from getting smashed and tapping.

I wasn't sure what I was going to find when i clicked on this but I have to admit these were all pretty solid. Reminds me of 30 years ago and my first Judo class. Dude thank you. This is so helpful its unreal. I have just started at the Roger Gracie Academy, London and am a #1 stripe White Belt. Coming from a fairly successful life long Boxing/Kickboxing back ground with plenty of silver ware, I now find myself in a combat sport that I don't know my ass from my elbow and am continually gasing out, as I am still in striking mode and on top of that, have no BJJ repertoire to go to either. These drill are great and your other videos, 5 Moves for White Belts is also super helpful. Thanks a lot.

Great vid! And yes, some stuff feels so off. I have an athletic background. All the pee wee sports, wrestled a bit in school, and a few summer camps through the rec department. Heavy skateboarder, and held a lot of backyard fights with our friends and other "clicks" growing up. I'm on my second month in BJJ, and yeah. I'm decent for being so early, but I get to a spot where, I just feel stuck. Not sure where to move from there. Or just getting frustrated my hips won't move "here", or my leg gets trapped "there" thanks for the stuff, we do these most every class!
