DAMN... This Grogu sculpture almost looks like the real grogu animatronic puppet! I'd like to ask you a question. What clay did you use? Im a bit paranoid of what clay ill be using, and im definitely not gonna use Air dry clay, i dont want my baby to fall apart WHILE IM SCULPTING IT- Hell nAw. and If you are using air dry clay, would you be considerate to tell me good types baking clay that are easy to work with? Thanks
@jeditsuyoshi3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! This is chavant clay; its a non-sulphur oil clay used for car designs, special effects, product design, etc. If you want a bake-able clay, I'd go with Cosclay or Super Sculpy. Cosclay (I think that's the name) is just like Super Sculpy except it doesn't get hard and brittle. Can't get it here in Japan though, but Ace of Clay talks about it a lot.

James Wright - Hello, I am doing my own sculpt and have noticed that each different cgi modeler and set prop maker has a different take on how he looks so there are differences. That is what I think anyway. I noticed this when sculpting Thanos, many differences to his armour for instance. I am using air dried clay and getting loads of cracking. Might get into the 21st century soon and use something like yours.
@jeditsuyoshi5 жыл бұрын
I used to get cracks in mere minutes while using air dry clay - its so dry here in Japan, it was horrible to use. And super sculpy is too gummy for my taste. This stuff is great, you should give it a try!

Hi thanks for the vid. Is that clay you are using? I just noticed you melt it with the lighter so thought it may be wax? Thanks : )
@jeditsuyoshi5 жыл бұрын
Hey Tony, yeah, it’s a kind of chavant clay. It’s like a wax clay. In the states, a lot of people use Monster Clay. This is specifically Japanese industrial clay - the same thing they design car bodies out of. It melts at 60degrees C to be soft enough to use, other wise it’s hard as a brick and works kinda like chocolate.
