As always, the video doesn't do either setup justice. I have the light properly aimed and have never had a problem with anyone flashing their lights at me or anything like that. Write-up link: www.cherokeefor...

A good straight to the point video. Ended up going with a 35W. Heard too much about 55W's buring the inside of headlights.
@MrRourke212 жыл бұрын
Just saw your comment. Figured I pay it forward over here. Only cheap made 55w kits have that concern. The better kits have no issues with melting headlights. GTR or Morimoto or xenon depot are your best kits out there.

At 4300K, im surprised the color wash wasnt really affected by the 55w ballast. I currently have the Hylux 45w ballast paired with XenonDepot Philips xv2 4800K. And its a warm white output. Only a slight whiter than oem HID 4300k but definitely has a more noticeable intensity. And I agree the cameras will never capture the real true output of what they actually look like vs in person.

Hi, I have Philips XV Gen2 H4 HIDs on the G5R projector, powering them is the Hylux 35w ballast. If I upgrade to a 55W ballast, will that burn the projector lens? Thanks!

I have been looking for a aftermarket projector+hid setup and the one of most important factor before really picking up your setup is what ballast you're really considering. In my case I'm very confuse between 35w and 55w. 35w looks okay but 55w looks more promising for highways runs but acknowledging cons of the 55w that is shortens the bulb life, should i go for 35w or 55w what do u think?

I highly recommend the 55w. The video really doesn't do the 55w justice, I've been running them since I've made this video and haven't had any issues with the lights, I still haven't had to replace them. Just make for sure they they are properly aimed so you don't blind other drivers. I still have yet to have anyone flash their lights or anything at me to this day, so as long as they're properly aimed you won't have to worry about anything like that.

@@35codyc Awesome, its been 5 years since you started using those hids and they are still working like charm. I'm sure manufacturing brands also play a important role in reliability but thats astonishing. How about weather? Did encounter any sort of inconvenience while rainy season, i mean wet roads repelling light towards you?

Bro I already have 35w 4300K HID installed in projector headlights..the throw is very good but I was wondering if the brightness and throw will increase in real life if I replace them with 55w? And will it make the oncoming traffic uncomfortable or no problem to them?

Just me or maybe he needs to raise the 55w headlights a little so not all the light is going straight down?

Brayden Kelly If I raised them more, they'd be blinding other drivers. But the reflection off the road is a bit exaggerated in the video.

35 watts are better for driving... there no big hot spot on the road with the 55 watt. Where the 35 watt the light is focus all over the road where it suppose to be. Plus the 35 has more down road viability

Is 55w even legal or are we gonna have a problem with the cops?
@junkemails50503 жыл бұрын
Screw the pigs, as long you use projector and adjust to aim the beam below an average sedans car side mirror you are good to go. The problem is that many people were using these hid(xenon) lights in reflectors headlights made for use with halogen only. Do you research, even tho if sometimes technically something is illegal if not bothers people you will be fine, don’t you know many cops doesn’t even know the laws, they go making up their own laws, f#pigs

55 W is too bright and distorting the natural color. Look at the yellow line of the road and compare. This is not good for your eyes in long drive. 4300K is the best color temperature with maximum output and will not stained your eyes.
@35codyc6 жыл бұрын
They're not as bright on the road as the video makes them seem. And they are 4300k.
@rudolfhuijs45265 жыл бұрын
I did the same in a Passat and I was frying the harness. Yeah 55 gives more, but it shortens the bulb life, wiring and the headlight housing could be affected in the long term for that tiny UV rays that aren't filtered by the quartz glass around the capsule. Also, it seems these lights are 5000k at least. For short trips it's ok but drive 3 or more hours with super white or blueish lights and you'll experience eyesight tiredness. As tested by some manufacturers, like Morimoto, 55W ballasts increases brightness up to 20% in comparison to 35W. Those extra 20W decrease the colour temp around 1000K. That means a 6000K bulb will turn whiter, more like a 5000K. A 5000K will look pinkish. Of course that is if the ballast really throws 55W, most of ballasts in kits output 48-52W. Use multimeter, check AMPs, voltage and apply The Ohm law. Want your kit to last? Use relay harness, that way your xenons draw current directly from the battery and not through the OE wiring harness.
@Wahid-ml5mo3 жыл бұрын
@@rudolfhuijs4526 you said the 55w ballast shortens the life of the bulb, i wonder how many years would a 5500k bulb along with 55w setup would last?
@rudolfhuijs45263 жыл бұрын
@@Wahid-ml5mo A precise answer to your question, I don't have. I changed my xenons 2 years ago after 12 years of service. Those ballasts were Hella 35w, with relays, fuses and 35w bulbs. Due to service the light became yellowish. I changed to digital ballasts (slim) 55w with 35w D2S bulbs. Anyway, I measured the power output of that stuff and it was only delivering 42w. So far 3xcellent replacement combined with 5000k bulbs. Remember durability relies upon correct wiring, good quality products and proper installation. Add to that daily use. For those 12- year period, it wasn't a daily-lights on driving. I suggest you take a look to Headlight Revolution channel here in YT or maybe check Millan or Milos Mastracci, he shows some stuff about it. Drive Safe!
