This 2015 Cherokee, came to me due to a Start and Stop warning, and an engine light on...
A quick scan, revealed the cause, U0216, and some digging and logic helped finding the problem...
But, was more than meet the eye, and unfortunately I lacked the tools to complete the work...
That said, hope there is some information here that can some how help, it happens that you come across a similar fault...

Nice one as always Luis. After all, you did fix it, the rest (having Fiat reflash the BCM) being up to your customer. Now he's got everything working again and clear instructions on how to proceed further.

MDH stands for Month Day Hour when the vehicle was built in the assy plant. It is on the vehicle cert label on the opening face of the B pillar. It might be on the passenger door since the assy plant that builds these probably has the label printer on the high volume left hand drive side for non-UK vehicles.

I had a s/w bug on a used car, intermittent SOS activation. Thankfully did not connect to services. Took dealer 2 weeks to fix due VW backend problem. They would have charged £500 to fix, fortunately other VW dealer where I got the car from covered cost.

I don't know if it will work - but you can get a FCA bypass tool to plug into the harness - to allow you to do tasks on the vehicle -I just heard about them the other day they sell them on *bay

So I know this is a little late, but the dealer service tool (WiTech) has an operation called vehicle reconfiguration. Like a Proxy alignment. wondering if that would help and if your service tool has it.

Did they changed the battery and that caused this issues? I usually put a memory mantainer during the swap (basically a 12v bosch tool battery) and that helps preventing various glitches/relearning of the modules. Do you think this would have helped in this instance? What did the dealer tehnician said that would've caused the problem? Thx, Alex

Why not just connect a charged 12V battery to the jump start post with jump leads when swapping the main battery. No need to to buy a maintainer

@@aqib2000 that's exactly what it is. Some brands will sell a memory mantainer which connects via obd port. I prefer the jump ports.

There is other tools tha can do it, like VXDIAG... but I never used them... They should be able to run tech2 etc... 👍👍👍

You need restore vehicle configuration and change one parameter from automatic to manual. That’s solved your issue. 5 min job .

Hi Tried all the possible configurations on the body control module, and PCM none would work... could be something that the Maxisys wouldn't do... and that's nothing I could do... Once I found the TSB, all made sense.. and yes, would be a 5 minutes job with the right tools... Thank you for watching and for your comment.
