Jeep Compass 2015 Crank Sensor Replacement code P0334 Crank position sensor Intermitent

I had P0339 2012 Jeep Compass 2.0L. This video solved my problem. Followed it step by step. On a scale of 1 to 10 of mechanical skills on cars, I have about a 2.5. I am pretty much car incompetent and I did the entire job TWICE in 4 hours. I have my own tools but borrowed a 1/4 drive 10 mm deep socket from my neighbor because you need a deep socket for the some of the nuts. I did the job twice because I did the entire job, tried to start the car and it just kept turning over but wouldnt start. So I took it all back apart and redid every step, but made sure to really SHOVE the sensor down in the hole with my socket wrench and tighten the shit out of the bolt that holds it in. I reconnected everything again and the car starter with the engine light off. Turned all the electrical components on, drove it around for 15 minutes, hard braking, heavy accelerating and hitting bumps on purpose and no problems stuttering with the engine, no loss of power or any signs of the problem I experienced before. I bought the sensor for $18 with a limited lifetime warranty from Advanced Auto. Thing that really sucks is I was stuck on the side of the road for 5 hours the week before and was towed to a mechanic to fix the problem. He changed my battery, for $140 said I was good to go and got me and my family stranded on a Sunday afternoon in 92 degree florida weather. Anyway, this video saved me alot of money and got my car back on the road. All of this just because of a stupid little piece of plastic.

how is your compass doin after a year, did you made another replacement after that? we have the same year and model but with a 2.4L. we also have the same code P0339. I brought my compass to pepboys auto shop in Tallahassee and they gave me a hefty quote. A whopping 1,600 dollars just to replace the sensor. They just lost another customer after I exited the door. Thanks for this video, this will definitely be a 99.9% sure that will save me a ton of money. ill be working on my jeep first thing in the morning.

@@RBTheMechanic do you have to reset pcm after install? So it won’t throw bad readings? I plan on doing today and these are the things I’m not sure about.

Worked for 2011 Jeep Compass that was staling and will not start when warmed up or ac is used . Only difference is sensor for 2011 is shorter and code is P0339. But procedure is the same . Thanks for your help in locating the sensor because the computer will only say sensor A and I needed to figure out which one on the engine is sensor A.

With my Compass there was no stall it just stop cranking all together. Had it towed bc it wouldn't crank and once we got it home it crunked for a few days then nothing. Changed relay, it crunked up but when we cut it off it wouldn't crank again. No code popping up. Pulled out fuses put them back started again and when I turned it off no start. Have you seen this issue?

Noo but sounds like bad starter dose it do loud click sound when it don’t start

@@inscaveman2 ok I’m guess before doing this job it did start? Anyways it can be fault new sensor. Check the connectors for every thing u removed check the connector for new sensor also check to see if the sensor is sitting in there propperly

Man the thing was terrible to reach can’t see only feel but I would charge labor $190 and part is around $55

My brother i had the same codes and issue. I did the repair for new sensor and still the same issue. Does there need to be scan tool procedures? Or is the sensor just a swap and down the road?

@@RBTheMechanic hey sorry for the late response. So i replaced the sensor not sure ts oem or third party. Most likely third party i bought it at a 3rd party parts store. And was wondering if relearning the sensor is necessary? But so far i replaced the sensor and fired it up and still have the same stalling issue and p0339

RB The Mechanic I got a 2015. Jeep Grand Cherokee is giving me bank 1 and bank 2 camshafts sensors and I erase the light and relearn the cams and the light comes back right away.. all I did was the camshaft from bank 1 and lifters....and the codes came right away..
