I bought a 2024 Camry 10 months ago. 2 months ago, I got a text from a salesman asking if I was interested in buying a car. 2025 is hybrid only with a CVT trans. They had 1 on the lot when I went for service. They had 2, 2024 Prius's there. BOTH had a $3K market adjustment on them. So, they are still doing this on some models. @JimAllen-Persona It would be a co-op, owned by the employees. Most likely very successful, as the current CEO class is a complete disaster that doesn’t operate in the real world. If the shareholders put up the money and the workers put up the labor, it should be a 50/50 split of earnings. Labor is more valuable than capital, as labor can create capital and do the work, whereas capital is only capital and cannot do the work. Also think about the many times the shareholder class has had nefarious intentions, selling all the company’s assets, keeping the money and letting the business go bankrupt.

In 2013 I bought a great 1500 RAM 1500, it was pretty much loaded and it was built like a tank (38k). No issues with the vehicle. After 11 yrs needed a new truck, so I looked at all of them, when I go to to RAM .... wow... how they cheapened the truck. So much hard plastic in the interior and WAY TOO MUCH aluminum in the body. Compared to my 2013, I could feel the body actually bounce and bob (like a fishing bobber) because the body was so lightened. Bought a new 4Runner 4x4 ($42k) and got a great deal, and it had MORE creature comforts than the 2024 Ram 1500 (64k)- so disappointed with the Stellantis. RAM 1500. And no for FORD or GM - been there, done that, and lost so much money on repairs over the life of the trucks.

So COVID happened, which slowed down all production of manufacturing, parts. This created a supply of cars/parts issue. With lower supply, demand became high as automakers/parts manufacturers needed to catch up. Automakers figured they could pump out increasingly expensive cars and part manufacturers had to up their prices because of higher demand. The hyper inflated prices that dealers charged only worked until supply stacked up again. Now dealers are stuck with cars they overpaid for and the consumers have stopped buying cars that hyperinflated prices since COVID. Increasing interest rates also makes it harder for the average consumer to buy cars, and especially more expensive cars.

What is really sad, the two clowns that have fast food restaurants have better control over their products than vehicle manufacturers do. In the automotive industry, greed throughout the entire industry is the problem. Point to any place within the automotive industry, and you can find problems that are self-induced and created from greed.

I think most publicly traded corporations grossly overpay CEOs. Employees, shareholders and consumers should receive these excesses.

this has been a long time ago maybe 2 years and over the past year, over value cars, and making subpar products, stealnatis is out of control price gouging, next to the dealers ships adding adms, on supposed last call cars that stealantis called, adding 30k on top of the over priced autos, when big dealer are leaving or selling their dealerships because of miss management of the top at stealantis, if they fail and go out, there will other OEMS to take the place of them

Carlos CAN be blamed for markups. Stellantis raising its msrp means the dealers are paying more per unit as well as the customer. Stellantis is leaving no meat on the bone for dealers, thats why markups are still out there

hm, Stellantis is searching for a successor for CEO. well, i dont think i have ever heard of any searches for a CEO that didnt happen AFTER the CEO was fired. course a lot of the problems in selling vehicles is because there is a mismatch between what is on dealers lots and what customers want. but then dealers order what they have on their lots, the OEM doesnt just ship them to dealers. OEMs cant force dealers to order (lets just call it what it is they bought them, thats based Federal and state laws, which dealers wanted to protect 'customers' but in reality it protects the dealers. who use to claim they were protecting customers from the OEMs. didnt say they were protecting customers from dealers), they might can incentive them to order some vehicles (sounds a lot like dealers/OEMs do when they need sales to improve of some vehicles. but that so pre pandemic).

Why doesn't a vehicle manufacturer take the idea of making lower cost vehicles, not loading them with a bunch of electronic crap and sell a shit ton of them. Remember the good ol' days of reasonably priced vehicles in the early 2000's. See Pontiac grand prix and bonneville, cheap jeeps, cheap F150s and Silverados. A huge problem is that manufacturers assume that more shit in a vehicle is better. I will continue to buy and drive older cars because I don't want a bunch of electronic BS in a vehicle.

ive bought 8 wranglers, a gladiator, and 3 rams n my lifetime.. I am nt likely to buy any more stellantis products... prices are still crazy high.. the truck i got 3 years ago qent up 9K to get the new one.. and I have to give up the V8 to get a new one... and thats BEFORE dealer "admin fees"... so in the end in my area id be paying about 10K more than I did 3 years ago.. sorry but 64K for a MID RANGE ram 1500 is a dealer killer for me... even 3 years ago i got money off the sticker for my 22 RAM and there was not massive dealer fees I bought the truck in nov of 21 as a lease which expires in november this year.. id rather drive my old beater car than to pay 64K for a mid level pickup with a crappy hurricane or pentastar engine..

The market is changing, and legacy auto aren't keeping up with what consumers are buying. Personally, they have nothing in their lineup that I find competitive, or that suits my use case (even if it's a lot more expensive).

What goes up; must come down. I guess Dodge is realizing when people can't afford their home owners insurance and property taxes; they're probably not looking for a 85K truck that will be worth 20k in 2 years

Jeep is so over priced. My parents were looking at them over 20 years ago; they were too expensive then. Jeep is no better than any other SUV. I paid $35 000 for my dodge ram quad cab in 2016 which was a 2015 model. I've saved it; it has 25 000 miles on it.

CEOs can see the train wreck coming from a long way off and they have the analysis telling them why. But moving from a high margin environment to a low margin environment is not a job any CEO wants to go through. I went though this in the 1980s with a company and I found another job in a high-margin area before the collapse. A real leaders comes up with a plan to reflect changes in the marketplace. Maybe that means making a lot of cheaper cars - the cars that people want. Margins are lower and they may have to live in that world for 5-10 years. This is similar to Nike where they just threw out the CEO. He had many years and Nike, instead of working on new technology and new products, just worked on better retail channels and additional colorways.

if you are thinking it will be 2 yrs. before his contract runs out and then a new CEO steps in, you are still looking at a 1- or 2-year term to have other offerings that will be cost effective for the current market. Or is there something else that can help?

Remember the reasons why DCJR sales have plummeted: 1) Biden/Harris Inflation Reduction Act (mandates electric vehicles) 2) People do not want to buy all electric vehicles 3) MSRP sales prices of DCJR vehicles are way too high 4) DCJR vehicle quality is poor 5) Out of touch leadership at Stellantis 6) Dealers continue to try to gouge retail customers 7) ongoing UAW labor issues and problems
