As a consumer, I could care less if there's "money on the hood" I haven't forgotten that just a few years ago dealerships were telling us that "if you don't like our market adjustments, you should go buy a used car" so I did just that (a low mileage, ultra reliable, older truck), saved the cash I would've used to buy a vehicle from a dealer and invested it... So I say screw em, let them learn a lesson.

I know the diesel is no longer an option...but damn, that's a lot of money. They also had 3 Gladiator Sports (manual windows, no keyless entry) that had MSRP's over $45k. Fort that price you can get a loaded Colorado, Ranger, Frontier...not so much a Tacoma any more as they have ballooned in price.

@@DarthNeroyou're kinda mixing up half-tons and HD though. Ram and GM fully redesigned their half tons in 2019, so that's ahead of Ford (2015), but Ford was ahead of both Ram and GM with their HDs until GM in 2024. They're still ahead of Ram. The 2017 Super Duty was essentially a complete redesign (from the 2011) and their refreshes since then have been more significant than Ram's and GMs (again, until GM this year). Ram hasn't fully redesigned their HD since 2009. Basically, GM is better with redesigns but Ford is better with refreshes. Ram had a couple of REALLY good redesigns and refreshes but are now lagging behind both hard. Toyota did basically nothing with the Tundra for ages because they didn't need to, and then when they did finally completely redesign it, it's terrible.

Well when you build junk automobiles for decades, eventually you continue to lose buyers because they don’t wanna buy a vehicle that spends its life constantly broken. I have quite a few buddies who bought a Ram and WILL NOT be buying another one because of the reliability issues. Another thing is interest rates being higher. Ram and Stellantis in general tends to finance more “sub-prime” borrowers compared to other brands. My best friend’s brother-in-law is the GM at a very large CDJ dealer in a major southeast city and has been in the car business for 30 years. That’s coming straight from his mouth, he can’t get them financing anymore, even with 8 year notes. Couple that with how high prices have gotten, the buyers just can’t afford them.

The Hurricane straight six is more powerful, true. But it only achieves this at the top end of the power band. With two turbos. Which means it cannot take the long term strain that a diesel can. If you're running to Lowe's around town getting supplies, I'm sure it's great. I pull a 14k lb fifth wheel. It's of no use to me.
@davehilling3944Ай бұрын
definitely a concern running an engine flat out to get the power is anything but ideal. I had a 5.7, 6.4 2500 and a 6.0 F250 and as you would expect the diesel towed best, the 6.4 was actually pretty good I would have kept it (divorce) and then the 5.7 screamed up every mountain. It could do it but only running high rpms.

I bought a 2025 1500 Bighorn 4x4 a few weeks ago for $13,000 off the rip-off 54k MSRP. Opted for the old V6 since I have no trust in the Hurricane for reliability, and the only Hemi's laying around were 65k-80+ MSRP and far beyond what I was willing to pay. The Pentastar is likely to be reliable at least. I like it, rides great and is real quiet going down the road. The power is adequate for daily driving, but I do wish it had a lot more. I don't have anything to tow other than a small motorcycle trailer here and there.

I think thats the issue with any new engine we have seen all the tundra issues with their new one, and then the early ecoboost issues, people want reliability and the last 8 years at least have proven that really none of them are anymore it is all a crap shoot between the transmissions and the move to turbo less cylinder engines.

When I picked up my Ram 1500 Limited in 2019 they had blown everyone away. Good looks, interior crushed anyone else. Loved that truck and held onto it waiting and waiting for a Ram 2500 I needed to tow. Never came. Nothing changed. Ended up in a 24 AT4, which looks great, rides well and will tow a house...but is an absolute joke in terms of tech, integration, driver interface, etc. Freaking Google truck with android 10 os that isn't even supported anymore. Right now, all the big 3 suck to be honest. Especially considering the price. Section 179 tax deduction supports probably 50% or more of the HD market. Basically, 60 cents on the dollar.

These new trucks/cars break down, and when they do it's usually big $$$, yes. Generally they only pay msrp for parts, and they pay the shop what they’re willing to pay for labor per hour. And unless the dealer or shop sold you the warranty they normally don’t back down in the cost of parts and labor for a warranty company, leaving the customer to pay the difference, normally $20-$100 difference per hour and the difference of the parts cost. So if a dealer is charging $3200 for a head gasket, the customer might have to foot to bill for $800-$1000 of the repair
