Great stuff as always!!!! Favorite part of your videos from the very first one is how to speak your thoughts on projects. Most people just show them making stuff and not really how to “ build” it from first thought to finish. Thank you for all the knowledge.

Keep up the great work. I bought a FC170 when I was sixteen, it had a flat bed, hand operated spot lights on both sides. Wish I wasn't such a punk and able to fix it, still have the title. Let it friends, don't know what happened to it after that. It was cool to drive, the jammed up the transfer case.

I have alway had problems with rag joints freeing themselves from gear boxes, that is until I got a Toyota. My rig is 30+ years old and everything comes apart like it was brand new. Rear spring hangers and shackles, was a different story. I found saving factory spring bushing inserts very useful for frame pass through’s. The ones from Chevy bushings worked great for me in the past and always seem to have a half dozen on hand.

Hey there Matt have you ever thought about putting an anchor point in your floor so you can hook a winch to it and pull that thing in and out. Just a couple of pieces of rebar recessed down under the floor of the shop. Just a thought 😎👍

That's one hell of a rig you're building. I love FCs, and you're blowing the roof off with this build. I'm impressed not only with your knowledge and skill but even more so with your calm demeanor. I can't wait to see this beast completed. Quick question... based on the concept drawing, it looks like you'll be keeping that awesome patina for the final look. Is this true? If so, that's badass!

Matt I have a SAFETY observation : Where the shaft comes out of the top of the angl Box there doesn't look like there is enough clearance around the shaft where it comes through the mounting plate for the KEY . If the set screws were to let the key slip down and get in the groove towards the front it would lock it up . Are you pickin up what I'm layin down ? I love my new seat covers by the way !
@bleepinjeep3 жыл бұрын
Not really... the key can't slip down because the shaft groove isn't cut all the way down so it's locked in place even without the set screws.
@onthelake95543 жыл бұрын
@@bleepinjeep Oh good ! Thanks , I couldn't see that from my tiny screen lol.

Would the gearbox have fitup with the rest of the steering linkage if the coupling was under the round cross member instead of over? Maybe with a flatter pitman arm?
@jakubiszyn963 жыл бұрын
I just wanna say that in my opinion, that is not reverse output on that gearbox. My reasoning is that if you start at the steering wheel and follow the shaft, as long as you're facing towards the final output, the shaft rotates the same direction, and that's how I got my answer when I put a comment on "Remote Braking, Backwards Steering, and More Jeep FC Puzzles"

The gold steering box looks like you could have the shaft come out either end. Wouldn't that reverse your steering ? then you could of used the stock XJ steering box.
