I had a J 10 I had a 300 or 258 six cylinder and I pulled it out and put a popped up little 360 in there and I loved that truck. Awesome truck jack.

Dang Jack, I want one. I had the next generation Jeep Wagoneer (1971-360 Buick, 4bbl Rochester Carb) That thing will pull anything, and climb over anything. By the way the holes next to the lights were blanked out There was nothing there but a cover. In the military there were used to carry small weapons like rifles, ammunition, etc" we called them Weps (short for Weapon Carrier). Great find, I'm jealous, everything where I live is all rusty. When I had my Wagoneer I lived in NY and that was kind of rusty, from the salt they put on the roads in the winter. You picked a great ride. It's a great first truck, if you want to put 33's on it you're going to have to put a mild lift, maybe 3", you'll have to change the gear ratio's to match the tires, so I wouldn't change the rear end until you're sure of the tire size.

Those Jeeps were terrific get yourself a set of of 32 gumbos and you're exactly right with the Chrome Steel wagon wheels change out the seat get yourself some buckets in a console take out the AM radio put in a nice stereo add new speakers to the doors in behind the seats Above All Else you're going to need to take out that work box and put in a roll bar

The truck ought to be a great for Jack's first vehicle. Believe it would be easier to find the 9 inch stump with the matching ratio over repair parts for a posi dana. Or you could buy a ring and pinion and a locker for the 9 inch that you already have

My friend's dad also had a '71 Wagoneer with the 350/350 combo. It was painted by the factory in GM Lime Gold, which Jeep used only in '71. Same year as and same paint color as my grandfather 's Nova.

I see this vid is a little older but my dad had a 84 jeep J10 when I was a kid, was a half ton, 8 foot bed 258 straight 6....5 speed,was blue originally and fenders rotted out and me my brothers and dad did body work and he painted it white. we live in the rust belt 😡...was a great truck....but frame rotted out!!! can't wait to watch this...

My oldest son got an old delivery 6 cyl Chevy half ton pick up from my auto parts store. I bought two and my wife drove one. Good reliable rigs. First thing son did was put in a sound system. I think it would be a great truck for Jack.Looks like most of the engine and front end parts are there so I don't think it would take too much to be road worthy except the issue with the rear end.Maybe too,the green one that you got running from there might be a second option.As always,a great will it start video.

M ysecond vehicle growing up was a 1971 J4000 Jeep PU 360 4 speed it was a real stump puller as my Dad said at the time. He was so impressed that he bought himself a Brand New 1978 J 10 258 six with the 400 GM auto w/quadra trac as it was called in those day's. Best to ya guy's awesome stuff here.

That is a great first truck. It was the truck to have when I was Jacks age. You get it running and you could sale it for way more then you paid. One thing for sure is gas mileage is terrible. I’m looking forward to seeing it on the road.

I have owned a lot of them and to tell the truth, its a great rig for just about anyone who has some blood in their veins. I ran all sorts of different tires but what worked for me is hard now to find, the 7.50 X 16 tires.... a bit tall but that traction grip went just about anywhere. Honestly since the body is better from here anyway, I would repair the parts rig and transfer that running gear to the other one. There are a ton of places for visor brows an other nice stuff to fancy it up.... but first the running gear.. like they say... chrome don't get ya home/lol. I liked the bar grills better than the jail house style that is running. I have seen a lot of different things placed in the vent holes in the front from more lights to air intakes for bigger engines.... its a winner of a rig even if the interest dies out later cause you don't lose money on a jeep of any make or model.... heck even the wagoner has a high resale value

This is a gem. The parts you can swap on from newer models go until the early 90’s on that platform. I LOVE that early grill, but what I find amazing, is later, AMC put a plastic more traditional grill over that, and put square headlights in those round lead light holes!
