What is the size of the firewall grommet size also do you have a link for this to buy?

Hey Jay - It's just the main Jeep firewall grommet that comes factory. It's on the driver's side of the engine bay. And yeah there were links to purchase in the video description. Thanks

Is there a way to bypass the lock if the module decides to not work for whatever reason?

There is a manual override yes...there's a button you mouth under your dash.

Are you able to stick a screwdriver through the front grill mesh and pry the hood latch that is visibly sticking down beyond the bracketey to the right and bypass this whole unit like I am?

Never tried it and, honestly, why would I do that?

@@lifemattified7393 Because it defeats the whole purpose of this kit! Will it stop the petty criminal looking for a quick grab yes, but ultimately if there is an easy work around I discovered in 1 minute after I accidentally locked myself out of the engine of my manual wrangler (this kit does not work with manuals) kinda defeats the whole purpose. Regardless can you do this with your unit? Its not why you would do this but CAN you?

@@thomasshoff2965 Interesting...yeah I guess I'm not as concerned about that...I mean if someone wants something that bad...they'll always find a way.

@@thomasshoff2965 You can't pry the locking mechanism open with a screwdriver. This system uses compressed air to actuate the locking mechanism. The only way to release the lock is to release the air in the system. Since the air lines are not accessible with the hood closed, it's a fairly fool proof and theft proof system.

@@jt8251 Not the locking mechanism, the hood latch itself extends farther down than the shield they provide. If you look through your grill you will see the bottom of the latch that you can pry to the side with a screwdriver when the locking mechanism is engaged; I’m using the locking mechanism without actual air or power because they did not inform me that it does not work for manual jeeps.

I like this device and I am considering it since the alternative won’t work for me - I prefer the bolt keyed hood lock or the mopar key hood lock but I am getting the front trail camera so the camera will be in the way so as far as I have been able to find out this is my only other option without having to change the 2 hood levers outside. So with this being said I have some build quality issues of concern. What if the device breaks how would you get the hood open ? Or the hose melts how could you get the hood open ? Or what if the air hose gets a leak and won’t hold air how would you get it open ?

After using it for a while...I did end up removing it. I think the bolt locks are the way to go.

Will the latch work with doors off?
@lifemattified7393
@lifemattified7393 2 жыл бұрын
So I just recently removed top/doors/etc. and tried it. The latch does NOT work that way. This was interesting to me though since the wiring doesn't interface with the door wiring at all. Ah well...I don't go without doors very often. Thanks for the question.
