When Cindy and I built up our Jeep JL Wrangler, we purposefully took our time and installed as many aftermarket products as we could. This would include everything from a basic budget boost to EVO long arms and coilovers and we did all this to gain as much experience as possible. With that said, when it came to start building up our brand new Jeep JT Gladiator, we decided to do things a bit differently. Being that the two are so similar in design especially up front, we decided to pick up where we left off on the JL and go BIG right from the get go. Of course, I'm talking about Dana UD60 1-ton axles, Nitto 40" Trail Grappler tires, a PSC ram assist steering system and a superior EVO coilover suspension system. In this short video, you'll get to see the beginning of our Gladiator's transformation from being the mythical Jeep truck that it once was, into the Legend that it has since become. We hope you enjoy.

Looking forward to getting the gladiator out on the trail will be following your build Thank you wayalife

@wayalife
@wayalife 5 жыл бұрын
As I've stated multiple times now, we're simply testing something different and so that we can gain first hand experience with another very popular axle that's made in the USA. We did have an XD60 and ProRock 80 all lined up but decided to decline Dynatrac's generous offer to do this. Without question, Dynatrac makes some of the BEST custom axles money can buy and as you know, we've not only been strong supporters of theirs for well over a decade, the owner is a personal friend. Although he may not be thrilled with our decision to do this, he has wished us the best of luck with it. We will of course be sure to put our UD60's to the test and for better or for worse, we'll be sure to share what we find.

Badass! Can't wait to see it in action. As far as all the drama goes, I've been biting my tongue. I didn't want to comment and breathe life into it but I can't hold it in anymore. It's getting out of hand. People calling to boycott any manufacturers affiliated with Eddie, that's just childish and for some to go to the lengths of stripping their rigs of anything EVO for example, just to make a statemente makes them look thirsty for attention. I'm a fan of the content but I'm not a Wayalife "minion". There's characters on that forum that cross the line with impunity nor do I applaud the actions of Shawn. He's entitled to his opinion but he got his facts twisted and opened Pandora's box. I'm just pro offroad community and this whole pick a side mentality is unhealthy & toxic for the community. We can agree to disagree or we can carry on like children and watch this community rot from the inside out till it gets segregated beyond reparation.

Hey Eddie, I love what you're doing with the gladiator. I'm looking at getting one in the next year or so. I'm holding out for the diesel model. My question is I'm looking at putting 35s - 37s on it and I was wondering if I should bite the bullet and get the dana 60s and 80s for it or would they be to much. I know for now that 37s will probably be the biggest I go with but I may later on get 40s.

Glad you watched the next video. We still run Dynatrac and recommend them to anyone as they make great custom axles. If you haven't already seen them, please watch our most recent JL/JT Experience videos as we and 5 other rigs torture test our UD60s out in New England. So far, I'm pretty impressed.

Looking good Eddie! This really makes me want to go to tons and 40s on my Gladiator. How much suspension lift are you aiming for?

When we left Off Road Evolution, we had 3.25" of lift. We may go a bit taller but just a bit.

@@wayalife Was thinking of that black Jeep with that cool camera rig hanging off the back. Depending on what you get for a rack it would leave you a ton of options for cameras for the group follow or the general scene shots as you travel. Either way I'm sure it's bound to be a fun rig and will expand your video files.

Well, this is just the first in a series of videos coming your way but when all was said and done, you'd be looking at about $40-50k to do what we had done.

Why did you choose Dana 60 over Dynatrac 60?
@wayalife
@wayalife 5 жыл бұрын
So, full disclosure, we had an XD60 and ProRock 80 lined up but decided to decline Dynatrac's generosity to test something different out. Without question, Dynatrac makes some of the BEST custom axles money can buy and not only have we been strong supporters of theirs for well over a decade, the owner is a personal friend. Although he may not be thrilled with our decision to do this, he has wished us the best of luck with it. We'll be sure to put it to the test and for better or for worse, we'll be sure to share what we find.

Well, we kinda did on our JL and found they hold up to 37's surprisingly well. Going 40's, there was no question we would have broken them sooner than later.

Will they be going over the factory frame welds that I've heard don't really hold much and fail?

The poor welds were really only an issue on the first batch of JL's. Haven't seen any problems since nor on our JL which has over 40k on it now.

So genuinely curious. If you were going to go the route you have, why did you ever get a Rubicon model? Seems like a Sport or Sport S model would've been a much better and cheaper candidate to do the build on. You just threw away $15k in Rubicon specific parts...

Yup, you're absolutely right. We had originally ordered a Launch Edition thinking that we'd be one of the first to get our hands on a Gladiator. Of course, that did work out the way we thought and so we got what we could. For someone to do this, I would recommend getting a Sport.
