Damn! You solved my problem! Thank you! You are the only one on youtube to fix this problem and explain it. I am not throwing this jeep away because of this parasitic drain. This part is unobtainium now, My console screen showed a rear liftgate ajar light blinking and the draw started. I can live with a .013 amp draw., but not a .18 amp. I paid an auto electric repair shop $330 to fix it a year ago with a used and weak lock and it just broke again. He said it probably would.... IF HE HAD ONLY LEFT THE DAMN PLUG OFF!........ OK! Just tore into the liftgate trim panel on my 1997 Jeep GCL and unplugged the wire harness you showed and I now no longer get an "open liftgate" warning and annoying beep on my console "door ajar" monitor screen. But the other 4 "door ajar" warnings on the console screen still work....AND the liftgate and separate window still lock and unlock with the door lock control! IF the parasitic drain is gone or as you indicated reduced to .013 amps, I owe you a beer, dude! NO ONE on KZbin has addressed this problem the way you did! I love this Jeep and its Quadratrac,. I didn't want to throw it away because the liftgate lock is now unobtainium, and a dead battery every 24 hrs was intolerable. You bet I subscribed! You da man! PS. So far I haven't found anything else disconnected.... (fingers crossed) And I am leaving the panel off for a while because I know the gremlins are watching from the shadows and just waiting...... I am monitoring my voltage drop on the battery and will report back... This is probably one of the cleanest and nicest 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limiteds still on the road, and I am constantly getting compliments on it. I refuse to give up on it!

overnight battery voltage drop problem fixed! Yes, it will go dead after a week or so of sitting , but that is normal battery drain. These cheap batteries today will only store about12.30 volts or so. No other loss of function observed by disconnecting this plug. I just plug it into a trickle charger every week if we don't drive it. Thank you guys!

NIce job of showing the procedure to find the current drain. I have a customer 2014 G. Cherokee with 380 mAmp intermittent drain and was looking for possible causes (other than the common alternator or radio). I'll check this out. Thank you!

In my area paying someone to find the problem isnt the problem. Its just that everyone is so busy noone is trying to do diagnostics. Everyone just wants a quick easy pay day on replacing easy to get to parts. But none of the shops are interested in doing diagnostic. And they dont give af about how displeased you are with their service because they are over booked. Even the dealerships have been like that. They took my car but they totally misdiagnosed me and threw it back to me and still charged me the money even though they were wrong.

I was just looking for ideas where to start on my daughters 2011 Jeep Compass. The draw is exactly that and will die after a few days parked. I found the two 30 amp mini's underhood control the door locks/window and alarm. I also put a test light on it and it flickers up and down like a relay would do. I was going to start at the BCM but I almost want to go strait to the tailgate first.

Start with pulling fuses and watching amperage with a multimeter connected as shown in video

Check over the work that was done and try unplugging the parts that were replaced to see if the battery holds charge

I have a 2000 cherokee with a drain ... something with the locks...i put new switches driver and passenger side and still i put the iod fuse in and the locks bind in to locked position and you have to force the lock button to get it unlocked ....take the iod fuse out everything and works fine with the lovks but it takes out the instrument cluster and stereo

Check for short in circuit

Remove fuses while doing a amperage draw test to locate the source of battery drain.

For that info would be so nice 😊 Comedy gold So I noticed my car was smoking In the Taco Bell drive-through…. smelled terrible Like burnt oil🤮 So I took it to a lube shop The cheapest fix was to put more oil in at the time o I’m a Ride or die diy So I thought of a joke You know what they say about a car that leaks oil?
