Looks easy enough. My error code was also P0218 - Thermostat Rationality (replace thermostat). I had to wait a couple of days for warmer weather to do the repair, so I kept a constant eye on the engine temp. It rose slightly higher than normal, but never rose above the 1st mark (still in the bottom 1/4 of the gauge). My issue started once the weather turned cold. It reset the first time, but now it's 2 days without a reset, so time to swap it out.

You mentioned mixing distilled water with 50-50 anti freeze. I think you meant mix 50% distilled water with full strength antifreeze. 50-50 is usually referred to pre-mixed antifreeze.

50/50 coolant is already mixed for you. You add it strait in. If you mix in a 1 to 1 mix of 5/050 and distilled water you get a 75/25 mix .

I'm having this issue on a 2017 Jeep grand Latitude. The error apear on the first day of a clold front with outside Temps below 32 degrees. would this have anything to do with the error code?
@LJsGarage11 күн бұрын
For sure could since the coolant is used for heat too so temps run a little higher to heat the inside of the car. Hope that makes sense

I bought my Pops his first pitbull. He heard the stories and I wanted to show him it's how you raise them. After 7 years CoCO and him was best friends. Unfortunately his neighbor Changed his antifreeze and let it go all over the ground. It ran down the hill into a puddle. She drank some and 2 weeks later she Unfortunately passed. How long should I have the vent screw loose while the car is running? 15, 20 minutes? Or until no more fluid comes out from the vent screw on the new thermostat? And should the heat be on? Any other variables for this process? Thanks!

What the coolant level should be in the overflow bottle when engine is cold?

@@LJsGarage Hi. You show the thermostat "housing" or "assembly" being taken off, although it's quite blurry and then the video is snap edited with the new housing already back on. The thermostat itself is inside that housing, so I too found it confusing as I was interested in seeing the thermostat and it's configuration, not just the housing assembly. But thanks the same for the video, it's still helpful to see how the housing is accessed, and also where the bleeder valve is located. Take care!

What if it’s not reading a code but it’s not blowing hot air? Does that mean it’s heater core? It’s blowing just not hot….
@LJsGarageАй бұрын
Could be several things buy more than likely low fluid, air in the system, or like you mentioned the heater core. Thermostat could be bad still too and not opening and closing yet it's reading the right temp and not throwing codes
@jonnyblaze872Ай бұрын
@ yeah last winter I could hear sloshing when I would take off and when I looked it up it said heater core but at the time it was still working so I didn’t think anything of it. Hopefully it’s not to crazy hard to replace. Gonna try and do it myself along with some spark plugs coil packs. Jeep made everything difficult to work on though. Lol
