I recently presented a maserati grecale on an elevator on my KZbin channel and both the grecale and the grand Cherokee are built on the Giorgio Platform, together with the alfa romeo stelvio and Giulia, but here i see they switched to a true 5 link rear design, the italians use a big double element arm that forms a single unit so it is technically a 4 link design. That transfer case you filmed is 100% a Magna Powertrain Actimax system, the same as bmw x drive, alfa q4 and kia stinger awd. It does not have a center diff, but contains a clutchpack with electromechanical camplate actuation. They probably brand it as quadra trac I , higher spec models will use quadra trac II and quadra drive, which are all built by magna, because they bought new venture gear many years ago. Former land rover discovery 4 models used something similar but with a true center diff and low range. The new range rovers don't even have a center diff, they all use clutchpacks, probably magna too

I have a 2011 JGC, and I’m trying to understand why/when the Pentastar got so complicated. All that wiring and the huge amount of hoses up front look like a nightmare. Overall I’m torn. I like the aluminum cradle, but not the overly complicated suspension. I like that it runs a timing chain, but not all the spaghetti hanging off the motor. Port injection is a huge plus. Im fine with composite pans. Here in the rust belt steel pans need to be maintained. I’d be interested in service intervals for all the fluids.

Seems like allot of hate going on for this vehicle. I test drove a Grand Cherokee Laredo which is my sweet spot. Jeep has 5k discounts even on the 24 model! So a 300hp 8 speed NA engine that is more capable than anything else 4 wheel drive. In my opinion looks better for 35 to 37k!! Everything you need nothing you dont... For example 17 inch wheels with the beefy sidewall looks the best on this vehicle. No Sunroof is a bonus. Very smoothe ride eliminating potholes and rough pavement. Would a similar Hyundai, Kia, be better? Certainly the warranty on those are but something about the Jeep Still maintainking its uniquely American Squared off STyle. I think this looks leagues better than than the Wk inside and out. I will be watching more long term reviews etc... I am also considering the Mazda cx50 which is the opposite as far as rougher more sporty ride.. Single guy here no kids or pets...... lol Also watch his and other reviews of other cars they all have issues, nothing is engineered perfect but these modern cars are more efficient, just as speedy if not more and safer than anything made 20 years ago for you old geezers holding on to junkers...

Do you like the older version WK2 or this version WL better?
@kevinklein9991 Жыл бұрын
The WK2 was a purpose built, no compromise, original design. No shortcomings or less than optimal design parameters were required to accommodate Internal Combustion, Hybrid, and All Electric in a single body on frame design. Optimization of the engineering design is lacking in the WL.

How many 10 year old Jeep Grand Cherokees do you see on the road today?

I see a few around Milton, Burlington. Hell I have seen a late 90s Dodge Ram with a Dakota box attached to it. Still I will stick with my 2011 Mazda CX7. So far so good.
