Management: we want you engineers to cram all this stuff under the hood! Engineers: but it will be exceedingly difficult to service. Management: make it last just longer than the warranty, and after that it's not our problem!

Children, just because it is not metal does not mean it’s not strong... Metal cracks, plastic tends to deform before cracking. I see that as a win for an oil pan.

Not just some *Doug DeMuro* basic automotive review, I (along with other mechanics) need a *ChrisFix & Speedkar99* in depth & professionally detailed while skipping the 1 minute intro & having a short _”Hey guys, ChrisFix here”_ intro (without any annoying intro music & pointless logo animations)

I don’t think so. It’s just a terrible design. Fiat have never been really known for quality, and Chrysler as well. When you mix the two together you have double the problems. I’ve only driven one Jeep product before and it was an 05 Liberty. Not the best, but not absolutely terrible.
@shippo72
@shippo72 3 жыл бұрын
@@ryans413 No, this is just a Fiat engine thrown into a Jeep body to meet emission standards, everything else was sacrificed for that. Chrystler is very aware that 99% of Jeep owners never drive on anything more challenging than a gravel road or light snow, and built their "off road" cars accordingly. And it's not like they will take any liability if you take your car off-road and anything breaks.

Very minor issues include: Plastic oil pan on an off road SUV, an engine that is complex and difficult to work on, the blue smoke already on a brand new vehicle, the plastic running board supports, the intake buried under everything, the transmission that requires a scan tool to do a fluid change, etc. Doesnt seem minor to me. Lots of things to break.

About 10 years ago, I owned a used 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Never drove it off road, but very well built, durable, reliable and fun to drive. Drank gas like a sailor on shore leave, but the vehicle just spoke to me. I only got rid of it because it was too expensive for me to maintain two vehicles. About 4 years ago I was at the garage where I take my car for repairs. The owner has been in business for about 25 years. A customer had just driven off in a Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited, and I heard the owner mumble, "What a load of garbage" talking about the Jeep. This incident, combined with knowing that they have had well documented 'issues' with poor frame welds, corrosion, electrical problems, and they seem to be over-reliant on computers (and plastic components) AND Fiat's reputation, or lack thereof, would preclude me from even entertaining looking at a Jeep product, and I am a guy who LOVES old-school body on frame SUV's. If you want a late-model, body on frame SUV..............all roads lead through Toyota.
