@@ryans413 No, this is just a Fiat engine thrown into a Jeep body to meet emission standards, everything else was sacrificed for that. About 10 years ago, I owned a used 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Never drove it off road, but very well built, durable, reliable and fun to drive. Drank gas like a sailor on shore leave, but the vehicle just spoke to me. I only got rid of it because it was too expensive for me to maintain two vehicles. About 4 years ago I was at the garage where I take my car for repairs. The owner has been in business for about 25 years. A customer had just driven off in a Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited, and I heard the owner mumble, "What a load of garbage" talking about the Jeep. This incident, combined with knowing that they have had well documented 'issues' with poor frame welds, corrosion, electrical problems, and they seem to be over-reliant on computers (and plastic components) AND Fiat's reputation, or lack thereof, would preclude me from even entertaining looking at a Jeep product, and I am a guy who LOVES old-school body on frame SUV's. In theory, could an independent suspension have similar articulation to a Jeep's? Perhaps with pavement mode and off-road mode?

No because you'd be limited by the control arm's swing
