Thank you for this video, I was worried about the axle coming out but this helped and I got it done and only lost a few drops of gear oil

The o ring your missing is for assembly purposes in the factory. They use it so the rotor doesn't fall off while going down the assembly line.

Great video! It really helped me to prepare for the job. Btw, does anyone know the torque spec for the bolts? I just tightened as hard as I could (my Haynes manual doesn't say anything about the rear hub, only the front).

Thanks for the video. I was able to separate the backing plate and the hub with out removing the e-brake assembly or the backing plate from the vehicle. Just used a couple of screw drivers to separate the plate from the hub right there at the axle. Took about 25 minutes a side.

im in the midst of a rear brake job with new parking brake shoes.when i pull slack in the e-brake cable to hook it with the brake lever, the cable retracts.weird since it moves freely.what would cause this?

Hi! This was a great video, and we followed it to a T when doing our rear hub assembly replacement on our 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. However you did not show how you put back on the parking break lever, and we cannot for the life of us, get it back in. it will not hook on. it's just sitting in there unhooked. Can you describe how you but the e brake lever back on. thank you!

Just a quick note, next time you do one or if someone else does one you should remove the ABS wheel speed sensor first so you don't damage it. It's only 1 10mm bolt.

Hey did your new hub come with an o-ring? It seems mine didn't and a lot of gear oil has leaked out now. Probably have to replace the e-brake shoes now. Luckily I still had my old hub so I can re-use the o-ring. How did your brake cable separate from the backing plate?

That is a really different design. It makes sense. How many miles was on it before you had to replace it? My 2017 Suburban needed a new front wheel bearing and hub assembly at 25K. GM covered it on warranty. But that is way too soon to have to replace a wheel bearing.

After watching you tap the backing plate on i wondered if it would be easier to take the O-ring on the back off and reinstall it after I slipped the backing plate on. Easy Peasy and no hammering.

What happen to the O ring you dos not lube?? Does it hold the diff oil? Does it leak??

look at the condition of the axle spline. it may need to be replaced also. If the hub is chewed up, you will be doing this again in two months.

Mine has the same problem. I think, maybe the o-ring is damaged while installation. Ir maybe the wheel hub is bad quality, and oil comes from seal.

Hello, Can someone share experience - my WK have this problem too. I did changed rear wheel hub, because there was oil leak from seal. Now i drived more than 1.5 k kilometers, and oil leak is back now, from the same place. What could go wrong with new spare part?

There is a hole at the top of the backing plate that the sensor slides into. You can see the sensor at 9:10. You don't have to remove it or anything.

Is there a seal where the shaft goes through the axle? Or the oil could go straight out? I ask because I changed my hub due to leaking oil from axle and 10k km later is leaking again. Someone told could be the axle seal and not the hub..I wonder if there is a seal there..thanks
