My 2000 Jeep Cherokee barely has any heat and after trying a new thermostat, and flushing the old heater core without success it was time to pull the dash out and install a new heater core!

First off i want to thank you for taking the time to post this. This job was not for the faint of heart. Even with the help of the video it still took me almost 16 hours worth of trouble. Just got it finished up a couple hours ago. Did such a good job i got a pile of left over nuts and bolts. I must be a professional 😂 thanks again you saved me alot of BS

So at 8:35 I stopped the video. Ain't no way Jack! I have heat but summer is coming and the A/C evaporator is shot in mine. Looks like it'll be another hot summer! 😂😮 Wow what a chore to do this. Great video too. My screen door is thankful.

Might as well replace the AC evaporator ? Thanks for posting. Will tackle this this month, but I am taking a few days off to do this. Should be fun. Thanks again.

@JeepinJimmy I finally got around to doing this job.. Not bad at all. Could definitely use a 2nd set of hands getting the dash back in place but otherwise very easy. I wound up removing the lower stud that goes behind the head. Wasn't wrenching that sucker back on😅 If you had a flex head 11mm it would go a lot easier but that's 1 I don't own 😂 Thanks again for the guide. You've definitely covered the job perfectly.

I guess if you don't know if the AC condenser is good this would be a good time to replace it too

Right after you hear, "All you have to do..." you should go to the bank for a second mortgage and find a good shop to do this for you. However, this is excellent info. I wonder why Jeep decided to build the entire car around this item. Wouldn't it have been nice to have it on the engine side of the firewall?

another helpful video - great advice ! Any chance to get the upper/lower studs off behind the valve cover without damaging ?
@JeepinJimmy9 ай бұрын
Thanks man! If I had to do it again I would use hand tools and be a little more careful taking them off. My lower one was bent front when I installed my engine so it was doomed from the start lol

Awesome video! I just had a question, Do the coolant hoses affect the heater core? Are they connected at all?
@JeepinJimmy2 ай бұрын
Thanks man! They do connect. The 2 pipes on the heater core are whats sticking out of the firewall that connect to your heater hoses. 1 goes to the thermostat housing, and the other goes to the water pump.

After you cut the foam seals around the blower and ac/heater pipes to seperate the heater housing, how did you seal it back up? Did you replace the foam or...?
